Jos Buttler (England Captain): "That was a really good performance from us. We planned really well, we've been practicing well and we executed both with the bat and ball really really well and we deserved the win.

We bowled really well to restrict such a powerful batting lineup, such good six hitters especially. We did a really good job at that. Still a decent score, we had to play well to get that but we were very smart with the bat. The guys were very calculative when they took their options on. Bairstow and Salt partnership was so good. Jonny came in with good intent and put the momentum straight back. When Salt got the big over, it certainly broke the back of it.

That's why I brought Jofra back there (in the 16th over) with Pooran and Andre Russell coming in, 2 of the best players in the world so we wanted to use Jofra there to get a wicket or restrict them. Sometimes you have to bring your best bowler back and shut them earlier.

Rashid has been excellent all the time. An important player for a long time. He has so much variations. Jonny batted at number 4 today. He is a class player. He's been for a really long time and we have decided to back class players. Today was an impressive innings, a really mature player's innings.

It was a really good performance. People say you learn when you lose but I truly believe you learn when you win as well. We will reflect on what we did well to win today and then put it to bed and move on to the next one."
Rovman Powell (West Indies Captain): "I think we got to look at it from the batting perspective. I feel we were 15-20 runs short. But we needed a good display from the bowling group.

We are normally good in the last five overs but you have to give the credit to the English bowlers. The way they bowled, it was difficult for us to get away and get to a good total.

(On King's injury) Little bit of a strain. But hopefully, he will be back fit for the next game. We know how important he is for us.

Those chances are difficult. But you have to give credit to Salt. I guess he loves playing against the West Indies. He always makes us pay when you drop the catches.

We have to look back and evaluate. Our destiny is in our hands and we need to continue to play some good cricket."

Philip Salt (Player of the Match): "Yeah, I will take that. We are not looking too far ahead. Just happy to contribute to the team's win.

It was a little bit tougher with the spin in the middle overs. It was about constructing the chase. If I didn't take on the spinners, I had to take on the pacers in the later stage.

There are a lot of factors. You have to face many balls and hitting those boundaries. It was a pretty good wicket to bat on.

Jonny's innings was crucial. Once Jos got out, I had to bat through. Jonny took calculated risks in the middle and couldn't be more happier for him as a teammate."

9:17 AM IST, 11:47 PM Local Time: England get off in the Super 8s with a big 8-wicket victory against two time champions and co-hosts West Indies!

Jos Buttler won the toss, elected to bowl first. A combined performance from the English bowlers and exceptional work from the spinners helped restrict West Indies to 180/4 in the 20 overs.

Openers Phil Salt and Jos Buttler started off well adding 67 for the first wicket. Nicholas Pooran dropped Salt early in the innings and then Moeen Ali (13 off 10) also got a reprieve.

Jonny Bairstow batting at number 4 scored his highest T20 World Cup knock and remained unbeaten with 48 in 26 balls with 5 fours and a couple of sixes.

Phil Salt stole the show smashing 7 boundaries in a row (4 fours and 3 sixes) also milking 30 runs off the 16th over delivered by Romario Shepherd. Salt finished unbeaten on 87 in 47 deliveries and hit a total of 7 fours and 5 maximums in his match winning effort.

Roston Chase was the pick of the bowlers removing Buttler in his first over and conceding only 19 in his 3 over-spell. Andre Russell chipped in with Moeen's wicket but conceded 21 in his 2 overs. Left arm spinners Gudakesh Motie (0/32) and Akeal Hosein (0/35) tried to keep the batters quiet but a bad day in the park for the seamers ensured England romped to a convincing victory.

Stay tuned as we return with the post match festivities.
