Najmul Hossain Shanto (Bangladesh Captain): "Yeah, obviously, we are really happy with the way we have performed in this first qualifying round. Hopefully, we keep continuing with this superb bowling performance, but not with this batting performance. We need to improve a lot on that front.

We are not scoring much but we believed that we could defend. The way we've bowled, we knew we could take wickets and defend. The fielders have also been good.

We have a bit of everything. The fast bowlers have worked really hard for the last couple of years, which is why we have been doing well recently. In this format, bowling is very important. I hope they can continue.

In T20Is, momentum is very important. We need to have a better plan for the next round and execute it well. Hopefully, we can carry the momentum through to the next stage."
Rohit Paudel (Nepal Captain): "I think as a bowling unit we bowled really well but as a batting unit, we could have been tighter. Bangladesh bowled really well and after first six over we were four down and it put a lot pressure on us. The top order batters could have taken more responsibility.

I think they bowled really well in the powerplay. As a batting unit, we need to step up. We need to understand where to score runs. I think in bowling we were up to the mark but as a batting unit, we need to work a lot.

Absolutely, I believe this team has a bright future but we need to work hard. We will do better in upcoming World Cups.

I think we have disappointed them (fans). We could have crossed the line in a few matches. I feel for them, I saw videos of them crying. We will try to make them happy in coming years."
SUPER 8 GROUPS:

GROUP 1: India, Australia, Afghanistan and Bangladesh

GROUP 2: USA, West Indies, England and South Africa
Tanzim Hasan Sakib (POTM): "You know, we just want to keep things simple. We didn't want to panic and keep it simple and we did it. Everyone bowled well. Mustafizur bowled a maiden. Taskin, Shakib Al Hasan everyone bowled well as a unit.

We are excited for the Super 8 and we hope for the best in next stages.

(On whether they thought it will be tough for Nepal to chase down the target) Yes, spinners were turning it a lot on this track and we just bowled in right areas and got the results."

106 from Bangladesh is the lowest-ever total defended in a Men's T20 World Cup history!
8:26 AM IST, 22:56 Local Time: An impressive bowling display by Bangladeshi bowlers, as they defended the lowest total in the Men's T20 World Cup history. Nepal lost wickets in clusters and failed to hold their nerves in the crunch situation. Bangladesh qualify for Super 8s from Group D along with South Africa.

Earlier after being invited to bat first, Bangladesh got off to a shaky start, losing wickets from the first ball of the match and were 5 down inside the first half of the innings. Shakib Al Hasan top-scored with 17 runs to his name as it was a sorry-looking scorecard for the Tigers. Litton Das (10), Mahmudullah (13), Jaker Ali (12), Rishad Hossain (13), and Taskin Ahmed (12) were the other batters to score in double digits.

Sompal Kami, Dipendra Singh, Rohit Paudel, and Sandeep Lamichhane bagged a couple of wickets each for Nepal.

In pursuit of 106 runs, Nepal managed to negate the new-ball bowlers for the first couple of overs but Tanzim Hasan Sakib spotted fire with the ball, bowled his four overs on the trot, and removed 4 Nepali batters.

Kushal Malla (27 off 40) and Dipendra Singh Airee (31 off 25) managed to steady the ship and forged a 50+ runs partnership between them but they failed to carry the momentum in the death overs. Mustafizur Rahman befuddled the Nepali bowlers with his variations and conceded only 7 runs in his 4-over quota with 3 wickets to his name.

Nepal's lower-order batters even failed to open their account and were bundled out for a mere 85 runs in 19.2 overs.

Shakib Al Hasan (2/9) and Taskin Ahmed (1/29) were the other bowlers to feature in the wickets column, but the latter was a tad expensive in the process.

Stick around for the presentation....
Bangladesh have qualified for the Super 8s. They are grouped with India, Australia and Afghanistan in Group 1. They are the 8th team to qualify for the next round of the T20 World Cup 2024.
Two in two for Shakib Al Hasan. Given out on-field, but Bohara wants to review. Fair delivery.

19.2 Hasan to A Bohara
W An appeal for lbw and the finger is raised. Shakib puts the final nail in the coffin! Two in two for the veteran all-rounder. Bohara sends it upstairs. Length delivery on the off and middle stump line, angling in with the arm. Bohara shuffles a tad, looking to stay inside the line. Misses the glance and wears it on the thigh pad. The UltraEdge indicates a flat line and the ball tracking shows three reds. So, the decision remains the same and Nepal are bundled out for 85 runs, falling 22 runs short of the target.

Bangladeshi bowlers did well to chip in with the wickets at regular intervals and defended the lowest-ever total in the Men's T20 World Cups. With this win, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Co. advance to the Super 8s from Group D along with South Africa
