That is the end of our coverage of another low-scoring fixture in New York. Pakistan brushed aside Canada by seven wickets and won their first match of this tournament. They need to beat Ireland by a good margin in their final group A game and watch out for the results of the games involving the USA and Canada to go their way.

I am AkshayaKrishna Polya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Deepak Prakash and Ajay Pal Singh, who, alongside our scorer/analyst Paras Yadav, brought you all the live-action of this mouth-watering fixture.

Next up, it's Nepal vs Sri Lanka and Australia vs Namibia. Do tune in with us for those early morning (in IST) fixtures. We will meet again. Until then, it's cheers.
Most fifty-plus scores for an opener in T20Is:

30 - Mohammad Rizwan (71 innings)*

30 - Rohit Sharma (118 innings)

28 - Babar Azam (84 innings)

27 - David Warner (98 innings)
Babar Azam (Pakistan Captain): "Good for us as we needed this win. I think we started well with the ball in the powerplay. (On NRR) Yes, we had plans in our mind to chase down this total in 13-14 overs but to be honest, the ball was not coming properly in the powerplay.

It was a two-paced wicket and it took a little time for us to settle on the crease. We will try to play with the same mindset in the next game. The pitch in Florida is much better from this venue. I got out twice playing the same shot so, I was a bit angry."
Saad Bin Zafar (Canada Captain): "I think it was a bit disappointing. We wanted to play positive cricket but the wicket was not really helpful. It was difficult to bat especially early on. Definitely we don't get to play a lot of high calibre teams too often.

I believe Pakistan bowlers bowled in good channels. It was a 130-plus wicket. Even with this total, we needed early breakthroughs but we couldn't get it.

A lot of positive come out of this game. Aaron Johnson played a good knock. Nicholas Kirton got run out, he has been scoring good runs for us. Disappointing but yeah, a lot of positives to take from this."
Most fifty-plus runs for Pakistan in T20 WCs:

5 - Babar Azam

5 - Mohammad Rizwan*

3 - Shoaib Malik

3 - Kamran Akmal

3 - Umar Akmal
Mohammad Rizwan's 52-ball half-century is the slowest 50 in a T20 WC match. He surpassed the record of David Miller's 50-ball half-century versus the Netherlands to gain this unwanted record.
Mohammad Amir (Player of the Match): "As a bowler, you have to adapt to the conditions. The conditions are demanding, and I think I was doing just that. I was trying to hit the right areas and that's why I got the success.

As a professional, you have to be ready for any situation. My role is very clear regarding what I'm going to do with the new ball and at the death. I'm very clear with my plans, which is why I think I'm achieving success.

I think the plan was clear: to just set him up. I was bowling away swingers for three or four deliveries, then I thought it was the right time to bring it in. And I think that's why I succeeded. That was a much-needed win, to be honest. And you never know what might happen next. One more win, and who knows?"

11:16 PM IST & 1:46 PM Local Time: That's it! Pakistan have completed the highest successful run chase at Nassau County Ground. They chase down 107 runs with seven wickets in hand and 15 balls to spare. With this win, they keep their slim hopes alive for the Super 8s.

Earlier in the match, Pakistan restricted Canada for 106 for 7 after opting to bowl. Canada started well taking 11 runs off the first over bowled by Shaheen Shah Afridi but Mohammed Amir came and dismissed Navneet Dhaliwal with a peach of a delivery.

A change of ends for Shaheen worked as he picked up Pargat Singh in his second spell. The in-form Nicholas Kirton was unlucky as he was involved in a huge mix-up that ended his innings, run out for just 1.

Haris Rauf started poorly but came back with a bang, taking a couple of wickets and keeping the run rate down towards the end. Naseem Shah picked up a wicket while Imad Wasim remained wicketless. Aaron Johnson was the lone warrior, scoring 52 off 44.

In the chase, Pakistan lost Saim Ayub early as he struggled to get the boundaries because of the slow outfield. Once he perished, skipper Babar Azam joined Mohammad Rizwan in the middle and the duo added 63 runs for the second wicket.

Fakhar then came to the crease and after a cautious start, he too perished, looking to finish the game with a big hit. Rizwan got to his fifty, but it came off 52 balls. The slowest ever by any Pakistani batter in T20Is.

Pakistan would have loved to finish this a bit early to boost their net run-rate but points on the board never the less.

Dillon Heyliger was the pick of the bowlers for Canada, finishing with figures of 2/18 in his four overs.

Jeremy Gordon also got a wicket towards the end, getting the better of Fakhar Zaman.

Stay tuned for the post-match presentation and thoughts of both the skippers on the exciting contest.
17.3 J Gordon to U Khan
2 That is it for the day! Pakistan finally manage to win a game in this World Cup. They get those two crucial points. Full and angling into the leg stump. Usman Khan flicks it to deep square leg and heads back for a couple of runs. Gets off the mark and also hits the winning runs. This is the highest successful run chase at this ground! The Men in Green learn their mistakes and go past the finishing lines. Now, they need other results to their way. Things are not at all straightforward. But for now, at least they have a win and hope! We all know the story of that 1% hope, aren't we?
17.3 J Gordon to U Khan
WD WIDE! Bouncer that goes over the left shoulder of the batter but is down the leg side. Usman ignores it to the keeper staying inside its line. Wide called. Another run down. Pakistan need 2 to win!
Usman Khan is in at number 5. One slip in place.

Man! They needed only 3 runs, but Fakhar Zaman fell trapped, looking to finish things off in style! This is not that type of pitch where you can hit on the up way too easily.
17.2 J Gordon to F Zaman
W WICKET! CAUGHT! Fakhar Zaman tried to seal the game but perished! Full-length delivery at the stumps. Zaman clears his front leg and looks to whack it in the leg side for a boundary but gets the leading edge of the bat on it, with the ball flying towards backward point. The substitute fielder, Bajwa in the ring moves to his left and takes a good running catch.
