Rashid Khan (Afghanistan Captain): "I think that's the kind of start we wanted whenever you play. The hardwork we did in the last 3-4 years paid off. The kind of start the openers got and the way everyone bowled. It was a great overall team effort.

Its a proud feeling to lead the team in a World Cup so enjoying it so far. Trying to keep it simple and take the team ahead.

That's the beauty of this team. We have so many bowling options in the powerplay and in the later stages. For me its very good to have those options. Its a good thing that they always deliver under pressure. Lucky to have the bowlers who are happy to bowl anywhere in the innings.

I think last World Cup gave us so much confidence beating some big teams. We are confident about beating any team any time. Its more about what we execute on the ground than the skill.

Big game for us against New Zealand. Its all about making things simple. Its a big game for us in the whole competition. The result doesn't matter but the effort we put in is more important for me."
Brian Masaba (Uganda Captain): "Pretty special moment for us. Coming here and seeing our flag at the World Cup, a very special moment for all of us and I'll certainly cherish this for the rest of my life.

Yes. Nerves. A lot of them. First match of the World Cup. We didn't had enough time to think as the game moved very quickly. I feel we pulled back really well in the second half. Full credit to the boys for doing that.

Full credit to Afghanistan. They are one of the best bowling attacks in the world. They have got world-class seamers and spinners. We just have to see what we did right and try to bounce back against Papua New Guinea in our next game."

Fazalhaq Farooqi (Player of the Match): "Thanks to the almighty. I missed the hat-trick a few times. That's not something in my control but will try to pick up a hat-trick if I get a chance in the future.

I just tried to bowl a few balls in the wicket to see how it behaves. I got a good amount of swing with the new ball. When I came back for the second spell, I bowled it slower. I just tried to mix it up and it helped me tonight.

Definitely. The franchise cricket has helped me. I have been playing in different franchise leagues for the last three years and it has helped me to keep improving every day. You get to learn a lot when you play along side the best players in the world."
Player of the Match: Fazalhaq Farooqi
9:19 AM IST, 11:49 PM Local Time: Afghanistan register their third biggest win in the history of T20 World Cups with a thumping 125-run victory against World Cup debutants Uganda at Guyana.

Uganda called it right at the toss electing to bowl first. The Afghan openers added 154 for the first wicket helping the side to score 183/5 in 20 overs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz hitting 76 and Ibrahim Zadran 70 before the middle order failed to impress.

Uganda lost half of their line-up inside the powerplay with Fazalhaq Farooqi, Naveen-ul-Haq and Mujeeb Ur Rahman taking the early wickets. Only Robinson Obuya (14 off 25) and Riazat Ali Shah (11 off 34) could score in double figures.

Fazalhaq starred with his career best T20I figures of 5/9. Naveen (2/4), Rashid Khan (2/12) and Mujeeb (1/16) shared the remaining 5 wickets amongst them. Azmatullah Omarzai bowled a couple of economic overs for 0/7 but couldn't get his name in the wickets column.

Stay tuned as we continue our coverage with the post match reactions from the players.

W BOWLED HIM! Too easy for Rashid with his googly. Full and outside the off stump spinning back in through the gate. Ssenyondo is forward shaping to push away in the off side. Big gap between the bat and pad. The ball goes through and rattles the stumps. Afghanistan with a thumping win to kick start their campaign.
