Anamul Haque Bijoy (Khulna Tigers Captain)- "We didn't bat well in the powerplay except Lewis. Shanaka and Nawaz batted really well and that went well for us. We knew that it was the first match in this ground of this BPL. We gave our bowlers 160 and had faith in them. Nahidul Islam bowled really well in the powerplay. Mohammad Wasim is a great death bowler. Nasum is one iof the best spinners in the Bangladesh and they have contributed well for us."
Dasun Shanaka (Player of the Match): "Yes, of course. I mentioned about the powerplay. Our bowlers bowled well there and it became difficult for their batters to bat there. It's a kind of day that is rare. Happy to contribute in all facets of the game and good to contribute to the team. Good to play 200th game today. Didn't know it till you mentioned it today. This is the first time this season, that the team batting first has won the contest. The Tigers deserve this win as they have played better than the Riders in all facets of the game. It's back to the drawing board for the Riders.
Chasing 161 for the win, Rangpur lost wickets at regular intervals and never really got going as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Babar and Brandon King fell early while Rony Talukdar struggled for his 15 off 25 balls. Shamim Hossain looked good for his 30 off 22 balls. Mohammad Nabi played the lone ranger as he scored a breath-taking 50 off 30 balls. Mahedi got into double figures. But nothing much to ride home about after that as the Riders were bowled out for 132 in 18.4 overs.
From the bowling point of view, Dasun Shanaka was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4/17 in 3 overs. A couple of wickets apiece for Mohammad Nawaz and Mohammad Wasim Jr. A wicket for Nasum Ahmed as well. Nahidul Islam went wicketless but kept things tight from one end.
