Nurul Hasan (Rangpur Riders Skipper): “It was a great game. The way we batted in the top order, I believe we should take more responsibility and be better going ahead. The way our bowlers bowled in the power play was exceptionally well. Babar Azam and Omarzai’s effort was great in the middle but our top order also needs to be responsible and prepared.”

Azmatullah Omarzai (Player of the Match): “ I am really happy that I got to bat with the experienced Babar Azam. He’s a classy batsman and we had a good understanding. We decided to keep rotating the strike, I tried to do my best to give him maximum strike. I was just waiting for the lose balls in order to hit them for boundaries.”

Mashrafe Mortaza (Sylhet Strikers Skipper): "We didn't score enough overs. We were 20-30 runs short. But a lot of credit to (Dushan) Hemantha. Brilliant spell from the spinner. We need to be consistent across departments. Hopefully, we'll make a comeback. It's all about gathering momentum and sustaining it."

It looked all over for the Riders when they were 39/6 after a triple-wicket over from Dushan Hemantha but Babar and Omarzai’s calmness helped the Riders cross the finish line.

Chasing a target of 121, the Riders were in all sorts of trouble as they lost six of their top-7 batters inside the first seven overs. Rony Talukdar, Brandon King, Nurul Hasan, Shamim Hossain, Mohammad Nabi and Mahedi Hasan all failed to cross the double-figure mark. Babar and Omarzai then combined and stitched an unbeaten 86-run partnership to help their team seal the deal from a precarious position. For the Strikers, Hemantha finished with three scalps while Richard Ngarava, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Nazmul Islam took one each.

Earlier, after being asked to bat first, the Strikers could only manage 120/8 in their full quota of 20 overs. They were tottering at 39/5 before a 68-run stand between Benny Howell and Ben Cutting propelled them past the 100 mark. For the Riders, Mahedi Hasan and Ripon Mondol took two wickets apiece.
