And that concludes our coverage of the first T20I in the thrilling 3-match series between UAE and Afghanistan. Today was undeniably Afghanistan's day as they secured a commanding 72-run victory. We trust you relished all the action right here on our network.

Be sure to join us for the upcoming matches spanning the globe. Signing off for now, this is Hitesh Peddurwar along with my esteemed co-commentator Ninaad Dixit, and our meticulous scorer Manish Bishnoi. Until next time, stay safe, and may your weekend be filled with enjoyment
Ibrahim Zadran(Afghanistan Captain):  Yeah, this is my first time captaining Afghanistan, it was a good experience for me, It was a double challenge for me as I need to work as a player and a captain too.

I would say we have very good bowlers like Naveen and Fazalhaq and we have good spinners too, unfortunately, we don't have Rashid on this tour, he had back surgery. We will try to play positive cricket, we will try to come to the ground with the different plans.

We always have a good partnership between me and Gurbaz, I was talking to Gurbaz that we need to bat longer and one of us needs to bat till 15 to 20 overs. My role is to play the anchor role and I batted till the last over but got out unfortunately.
Muhammad Waseem (UAE Captain): "Congratulations to Gurbaz. He played an outstanding knock and took the game away from us. We started well in the couple of overs but he smashed us all over.

We have a good talent, Tanish was playing well but we have to do some work on that. We will make a strong comeback.

Nothing went wrong. He played very good knock and Ibrahim played very well. I thought we will restrict them to 140-150 but the way they played, they took the game away from us."
Rahmanullah Gurbaz(Player of the Match): " Yeah, I went closer to a hundred but didn't score it, felt it really good to score a hundred. I think Hazratullah was doing well, my plan was to give him a strike and whenever I got a loose ball I was going for boundaries.

Honestly, everywhere crowd is supporting us, thanks to all the crowd and I hope they come in the next game. I played a few other innings as well, I can say in T20I this one will be a special one."

PLAYERS TO SCORE A CENTURY FOR AFGHANISTAN IN T20 INTERNATIONALS:

Mohammad Shahzad 118* v Zimbabwe 2016

Hazratullah Zazai: 162* v Ireland, 2019

Rahmanullah Gurbaz 100 v United Arab Emirates, TODAY*
22:51 IST, 21:21 Local Time| It's a comprehensive victory for Afghanistan, showcasing dominance in all facets of the game. They have clinched the win by a substantial margin of 72 runs.

Earlier in the game, UAE won the toss and chose to bowl in humid conditions at Sharjah. Afghanistan's openers had a decent start, but Aayan Khan's early breakthrough got Hazratullah Zazai out for 13 in the 5th over.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz stole the show, hitting a century in just 50 balls, becoming the third Afghan player to achieve this milestone. His explosive innings included 4 fours and 4 sixes. Captain Ibrahim Zadran added stability with a half-century.

Gurbaz, after crossing 50, hit 3 more fours and as many sixes before getting dismissed by Junaid Siddique. Zadran fell on the penultimate ball of the innings. Azmatullah Omarzai scored 19*, and Mohammad Nabi finished with a boundary.

UAE bowlers Aayan Khan (1/26), Muhammad Jawadullah (1/36), and Junaid Siddique (1/42) took wickets. Ali Naseer was the most economical, conceding 32 in 4 overs. Afghanistan posted a formidable 203/3 in 20 overs.

UAE had a tough time chasing 204 runs. In the beginning, Fazalhaq Farooqi bowled out Khalid Shah, and Naveen Ul Haq sent UAE skipper Muhammad Waseem back to the pavilion early. The Afghan bowlers were really good in the powerplay, keeping things tight. UAE managed only 28 runs and lost 3 wickets in the powerplay.

Basil Hameed and Vriitya Aravid tried to hold things together, but their partnership of 33 runs for the fourth wicket didn't speed up the scoring. Basil Hameed got out after making 18 runs. UAE couldn't keep up with the required run rate, mostly scoring singles and doubles.

In the middle overs, Vriitya Aravind and Tanish Suri exhibited resilience, forming a partnership of 75 runs for the fifth wicket. Vriitya remained unbeaten with a commendable 70*, while Tanish Suri contributed 20*. Despite their efforts, UAE fell short by 72 runs.

From a bowling point of view, Afghan bowlers were excellent today. Fazalhaq Farooqi scalped a couple of wickets. Naveen Ul Haq and Qais Ahmad scalped a wicket each.

Stay tuned with us as we will be back with the post-match presentation ceremony!
