6:07 PM IST, 14:37 Local Time: ABANDONED! So, the rain has had the final call in the first match of the 3-match ODI series as it has been called off due to persistent rain.

After being invited to bat first, Zimbabwe got off to a decent start, with Joylord Gumbie and Tinashe Kamunhukamwe adding 32 runs for the first wicket. Kamunhukamwe played with an aggressive approach, but his cameo was halted by Graham Hume at 15-ball, 28 runs. Innocent Kaia took his time to settle on the crease but failed to settle for long, departing for 5 runs off 16 balls.

Sikandar Raza joined Gumbie at number four, and the duo started building the partnership, but their partnership was abruptly halted by Little, who trapped the key player, Raza, for 15 runs and ceased the budding partnership.

Following the wicket of Raza, Zimbabwe lost three quick wickets in a jiffy, which included the wicket of set batter Gumbie (28 off 29). The home side were reeling at 121/6 in the 26th over when the umpire instructed the players to leave the field due to thunderstorms and lightning. This was promptly followed by heavy rain, transforming the outfield into a small river.

Graham Hume and Craig Young bagged a couple of wickets for Ireland, while Joshua Little contributed one wicket to Zimbabwe's downfall.

The persistent rain ultimately compelled the officials to call off the match after waiting for a long time.
6:03 PM IST and 14:33 Local Time: MATCH ABANDONED!
5:49 PM IST, 14:19 Local Time: The rain is constant at Harare Sports Club, and the covers are firmly placed. A few seconds ago, a groundstaff was seen hovering on the ground with his umbrella on.
5:02 PM IST, 13:32 Local Time: The rain seems to have eased off, but there is still no movement on the ground.
4:42 PM IST, 13:12 Local Time: The rain continues to fall, and so does the waiting game.
3:55 PM IST, 12:25 PM Local Time: Nothing to update as it's still raining and the covers are firmly placed. The outfield has accumulated plenty of water, and the readiness of the conditions will depend on the groundsmen, of course, if the rains stop. We have started to lose overs.
3:08 PM IST, 11:38 AM Local Time: The rain has picked up now and it's pelting down at the moment, and puddles have started to form on the outfield.
2:47 PM IST, 11:17 AM Local Time: It seems like the drizzle has arrived, as the groundsmen can be seen rushing in with more covers.
2:44 PM IST, 11:14 AM Local Time: The on-field umpires merge in the middle. They are asking the players to walk off the field now. It's not drizzling at the moment but they are bringing on the covers. Stirling is having a chat with the umpires. The umpires instructed the players to leave the field after observing lightning.
