So, that also brings an end to out coverage of the 15th game of ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2024. For now, this is me Hiren Kumar signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Ayan Chatterjee and Sidharth Gulati along with our scorer/analyst Bishal Mandal. CHEERS!!
Uday Saharan (India Captain): "A very good game for us, we executed all over plans. Musheer Khan showed his calmness and played a brilliant knock. We both decided to take the deep game and score at the backend. We always think to take the game deep and that was our plan as a batting unit. We work hard on our fielding and that also shows on the field. Yeah, can be called as All-rounder (laughs)."
Philippus le Roux (Ireland Captain): "I think we are disappointed. We played better cricket than that. India played better than us. I think we played well in patches. But hope to come back stronger in the next few games. They are defending champions for a reason. They executed well and better than us. They deserve the win. Yes, hope to do well in the coming games. We have positives to take from in this game. We got support from the family and they showed great composure cheering us up. Lot of areas to improve and we hope we can do that hopefully in the coming games. Thank You very much."
Musheer Khan (Player of the Match):"Thanks to Allah. Happy I got a 100 today in Under 19 levels. In the last match, I hurried myself. So, I wanted to take time for myself and did well for my side. Both our styles are same me and Sarfaraz. Happy to do well. The shot over midwicket was my favourite shot. Happy to have gotten a century for my side. Hope to continue this performance in the coming games as well by God's grace."
Player of the Match: Musheer Khan.
19:52 IST and 16:22 Local Time: ALL OVER. India Register a massive 201 run victory against the Irish as they win their second consecutive game of the tournament. As expected, India were clinical in all the departments and completely outplayed the opposition.
Put to bat first, the Indian batters did an excellent job to put up 301 runs on the board in their 50 overs. The openers added 32 runs for the first wicket.
Musheer Khan joined Arshin Kulkarni in the middle. He played a brilliant knock today and displayed why he is so highly rated. He went on to score 118 off 106 balls. Skipper Uday Saharan was also brilliant at the other end and scored 75 off 84 balls. In the end, Sachin Dhas also played a good little cameo off 21* off 9 balls which helped his side to put up the 300-run mark on the board.
For Ireland, their bowling was good with the new ball but failed to pick up wickets in the middle phase of the innings. Oliver Riley and John McNally were the pick of the bowlers for them as they picked up 3 and 2 wickets respectively.
Coming to the chase, the Irish did start well and their openers were decent. Losing their first wicket for 31 and then being all out for 100 is surely some poor batting display. Daniel Forkin was the top scorer for them as he remained unbeaten for 27.
For India, their bowlers were top notch. They were all over the Irish batting lineup. The duo of Naman Tiwari (4/53) and Saumy Pandey (3/21) were the pick of the bowlers for them. Overall, a dominating performance from the defending champions to seal the game. Stay around for the presentations.
W WICKET! BOWLED HIM! Uday Saharan has finished things off for India. Full and straight angling in, Lutton looks to defend and gets beaten all ends up. The ball goes through to clatter the stumps. Lutton is the last man out for 7 as the Irish have been bowled out for 100 in 29.4 overs. India finally get the job done and win by 201 runs.
29.3 U Saharan to F Lutton
0 Good length around off, Lutton defends to short midwicket.
29.2 U Saharan to F Lutton
0 Fuller length around off, Lutton defends it back to the bowler.
Ireland get to the three figures in the 30th over.
