Nicholas Pooran (Deccan Gladiators Skipper): "Yeah. That would be wonderful. We have done a fine job to reach the finals and we have destiny in our own hands. Waqar has played in the CPL as well and we know how good he can be. It’s nice to have those guys in the final. We have a chance and that is enough. I hope the result will be the same. 11:55 PM IST, 10:25 PM Local Time | That's it! Deccan Gladiators march into the finals! A fantastic performance from this team today to win back-to-back encounters to have the opportunity to become champions! They follow-up their eliminator victory with 28 run victory over Morrisville Samp Army!
Morrisville Samp Army won the toss and elected to bowl first, but that decision soon backfired. Nicky P put Morrisville under early pressure in the powerplay with a blistering came of 26 runs from 9 balls. Qais Ahmad entered the fray and turned things on it's head with back-to-back dismissals of Pooran and Fletcher in 2 balls.
However, Imad Wasim and Tom Kohler-Cadmore had other ideas as the duo smashed their way to 57 run-stand that was stopped when Imad Wasim fell after scoring 35 runs off 18 balls. Tom Kohler-Cadmore stayed unbeaten on 36 runs off 23 balls to power his team to a total of 117/5 from the first 10 overs.
Qais Ahmad was the pick of the bowlers for his figures of 2/11 from 2 overs.
Come the chase, things did not begin well for Morrisville. They lost both their openers within the powerplay and ended up crumbling under pressure. They were losing a wicket every over until the 5th over but the stability they needed was too late to arrive.
Andries Gous' unbeaten knock of 28 runs off 17 balls and Karim Janat's power innings of 31 runs off 14 balls were not enough to even come close to the monster target. In the end, it was too little too late for Morrisville Samp Army as the Deccan Gladiators brushed them away to reach the final!
