Match Details
19:20 PM IST, 17:50 PM Local Time: So that’s it from our end and it turned out to be an entertaining affair as we got to witness brute force and power throughout the course of the game. However, it’s the Delhi Bulls that were the better side on the day as they walk away with maximum points in their first game.
Here’s hoping for more such exhilarating action as we roll forward in the Abu Dhabi T10 League. Until then, this is Wali, Navjeevan and Ashok signing off. Take care everyone!
Quinton de Kock (Player of the Match): "I was unsure as to how we would go about it but the guys helped me out. It took one or two balls to get settled and it was all good then. To be honest it’s all about going out there and smash with a free license to hit the ball. There’s not much value to a wicket and that’s pretty much what we did."
18:55 PM, 17:25 PM Local Time: So that’s that and it’s the Delhi Bulls that have secured a win over the Deccan Gladiators by nine wickets and nine balls to spare.
Batting first, the Gladiators got to a total of 120/2 from 10 overs.
It was a terrific start for the Deccan Gladiators, as Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Andre Fletcher struck a quick-fire 64 run stand for the first wicket from under six overs.
Kohler-Cadmore was the first man to depart for 42 (21) after getting caught at long-off during Naveen-ul-Haq’s over. The specialist opener struck five fours and three sixes in his innings. Andre Fletcher also impressed with his breezy 34 (20).
Muhammad Rohid was the one to dismiss Fletcher as he eventually got run-out. Nicholas Pooran’s 18 (14)* and Andre Russell’s quick cameo of 19 (5)* eventually got them to a target worth defending.
However, the run-chase by no means turned out to be a challenge for the Delhi Bulls as Quinton de Kock and ‘impact player’ Johnson Charles smashed their way to 73 run partnership in just five overs.
Charles certainly did make a major impact as he powered to 36 (13) with five fours and two sixes to his name. It was Luke Wood who turned out to be the sole-wicket taker for the Gladiators as he got Charles out-bowled.
The skipper Rovaman Powell struck an unbeaten 31 (12)*, but it was Quinton de Kock who stood-out and the topped the charts courtesy his 50 (26)* balls as remained unbeaten as well. The South African veteran managed to strike three fours and four sixes during his tenure out there in the middle.
As a result of this comprehensive win, the Delhi Bulls are now at the top spot with a NRR of 2.353. As for the Deccan Gladiators, they will have to go back to the drawing board and regroup as a team in order to strike back in the games ahead.
