Signing off now, Saipavan Janaki, on behalf of my co-commentator Hitesh Peddurwar, and scorer/analyst Paras Yadav. Cheers to an action-packed T10 season ahead! 🏏🎉
Nicholas Pooran (Deccan Gladiators Captain): Yeah, very happy the way the guys fought today was amazing. TKC (Tom Kohler-Cadmore) was amazing as always, congratulations to the whole team. Yeah, that's really nice, the way Zahoor Khan bowled. I didn't know how he bowls but the guys said that he cranks up a bit and he bowled really well. For me the challenge is the players not playing together, once players start playing together, once they understand what their roles are then it becomes easier for the captain."
Tom Kohler-Cadmore (Player of the Match): "Yeah win and good momentum and win the first game. Yeah I mean to do things and yeah absolutely and happy to contribute, have struggled at first and then settled. We have freedom and freedom in T10 games and we know how strong we are and we have confident. Thanks."

Time for the post match presentation....
09.45 PM IST, 08.15 PM Local Time: Deccan Gladiators kick off their campaign with a victorious all-round performance, mirroring last year's title-winning start, as they triumph over New York Strikers by 22 runs🏏.

In the early innings of the Deccan Gladiators, the partnership between Tom Kohler-Cadmore and captain Nicholas Pooran faced a setback when Pooran departed in the second over, the team tallying a modest 8 runs within the powerplay. Despite wickets falling consistently, Andre Russell's brief flurry added excitement until Ali Khan dismissed him in the 5th over after a 17-run contribution.

Kohler-Cadmore emerged as the standout performer, anchoring the innings with an unbeaten 68, while Daniel Lawrence's quickfire 10 runs boosted the Gladiators to a total of 118. Chamika Karunaratne shone with the ball, claiming 3 crucial wickets in his 2-over spell, supported by Muhammad Jawadullah and Ali Khan, who each scalped a wicket for the Deccan Gladiators.

In pursuit of a 119-run target, New York Strikers faced an early setback with Rahmanullah Gurbaz departing in the first over, and despite an impactful start by Kusal Perera, the team found themselves at 14 runs within two overs. Muhammad Waseem's resilient 26 off 13 balls and Asif Ali's 24 off 15 provided a glimmer of hope.

However, wickets at intervals in the middle overs left them 22 runs short. Sunil Narine's unbeaten 10 runs in the closing moments saw the Strikers conclude their innings at 96 for the loss of 6 wickets in 10 overs.

Zahoor Khan shone for Deccan Gladiators, conceding 12 runs and claiming 2 wickets in 2 overs, while Trent Boult, Luke Wood, and Mohammad Zahid II each contributed with a wicket. The Gladiators' bowlers showcased their mettle in securing a crucial victory.
