Commentary

So that's it from us from the live coverage of the First Semi-Final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023-24 between Punjab and Delhi where Punjab defeated Delhi with 8 balls and 6 wickets remaining to reach the grand finale.

Mandeep Singh(Punjab Captain)- "I am very grateful that I made a contribution in a must win game. The way Abhishek batted, things got easy for me. I would say the way the wicket was behaving, restricting them to 183 was a good job by the bowlers. Our batting order is very flexible and see I batted at number 3 last game and went down the order today. It is very good to see the guys stepping up in every game."

Abhishek Sharma(Player of the Match)- "I am very happy as I contributed today. I am working with Yuvraj Singh since past two years and he is guiding me well with all his experiences and I think that helped me a lot."

Yash Dhull( Delhi Captain)- "We scored a good total but I think we were just 15 runs short. We suffered a run out and there we failed to maintain the run rate. I am very happy with my team as the young cricketers performed very well throughout the tournament."

Punjab have beaten Delhi in a rather comfortable victory for them, after a smacking innings from Abhishek Sharma at the top and then a magnificent innings from captain, Mandeep Singh, who took off all the pressure in the middle overs and guided the team to a victory.

Delhi would have been missing out on the services of Ishant Sharma and Harshit Rana, who performed well in the league stages, but overall a good end to the tournament for them. Sangwan, went very expensive and there they slipped from the game. After a sublime effort from Badoni, and Mayank along with Suyash with the ball, Delhi weren't all with their efforts.

Prabhsimran Singh helped the Punjab side to get off to a flying start. Abhishek (77) and Mandeep (63*) did very well to get off the team a seat in the finals. The duo aced their game through the innings and got the better off their opposition. Later in the innings, Nehal Wadhera batted well for them to finish the innings.

For the Delhi Side, Suyash Sharma went very expensive but took two wickets. Mayank Yadav bowled economically to take 2 wickets for 28. But the Punjab batters took on the others to chase the 184 run target with 8 balls remaining.

Wadhera on backfoot just guides the ball to long-off and collects the remaining single run. Nehal Wadhera is pumped up and so are the Punjab cricketers!
