Preview

Manipal Tigers will take on Urbanrisers Hyderabad in the 15th match of the Legends League Cricket (LLC) 2023 on Monday (December 4) at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam. Both the teams have made it to the playoffs, and Monday’s fixture will be all about sustaining the already-gathered momentum.

Urbanrisers Hyderabad and Manipal Tigers have won three games and lost one each. The former won two in a row before losing a thriller against Gujarat Giants. Hyderabad then bounced back with a comfortable seven-wicket win over Bhilwara Kings to confirm a spot in the top-four. Asked to field first at Molana Azad Stadium, Jammu, Hyderabad bowlers kept things tight and struck at crucial intervals to restrict Kings to 144/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Pawan Suyal took the most wickets (2) for Hyderabad, while Tillakaratne Dilshan top-scored for Kings with 53 off 37 balls. In response, Hyderabad rode Rikki Clarke’s unbeaten 44-ball 73 to seal the deal with 15 balls remaining.

Manipal Tigers also opened their campaign with two consecutive victories, but they suffered a five-wicket defeat at the hands of Southern Super Stars in their third game. Tigers returned to winning ways in their fourth game, getting the better of India Capitals by four wickets. After being put into bat, Capitals posted a mammoth 186/9 courtesy Bharath Chipli’s 51-ball 65, and contributions from Ben Dunk (33 off 19) and Ashley Nurse (26 off 12). For Tigers, Pankaj Singh, Praveen Gupta and Imran Khan grabbed two scalps apiece. In reply, Colin de Grandhomme’s 35-ball 58, Amit Verma’s 48 off 32 balls and Thisara Perera’s cameo guided Tigers home with a ball to spare. The victory confirmed a final-four berth for the Harbhajan Singh-led side.
