11.52 AM IST, 07.22 PM Local Time: That's it...Auckland Aces showcased an all-around performance securing victory and retaining their top spot in the Super Smash 2023-24. Defeating Northern Brave by 44 runs, the team's collective effort ensured a dominant display, affirming their position at the pinnacle of the table.

Earlier, Northern Brave won the toss and opt to bowl first. Auckland Aces' opening pair, Sean Solia and George Worker, who put together 54 runs. The momentum shifted when Solia departed for 21 runs, and Worker fell to Matt Fisher soon after, scoring 33.

In a bid to rebuild, Robert O'Donnell and Cole Briggs steadied the innings, but Tim Pringle dismissed Briggs just as he gained momentum. Undeterred, Robert showcased excellent form However, Pringle struck again with the final delivery of his spell, dismissing Robert.

Auckland's scoring didn't falter as William O'Donnell and Cam Fletcher capitalized on loose bowling, adding 48 runs in the last 4 overs. Auckland Aces concluded with an impressive 181/4 in 20 overs. Tim Pringle took 2 wickets, while Brett Hampton and Matthew Fisher claimed a wicket each for Northern Brave.

Chasing a target of 182 runs, Northern Brave faced a slow start with openers Henry Cooper and Katene Clarke contributing 34 runs for the first wicket. Despite Clarke's departure at 32 runs, the middle order stumbled with Jeet Raval departing for 8. The partnership of Flynn McGregor-Sumpter and Peter Bocock added 19 runs for the fifth wicket, followed by a quickfire 30 runs from Bocock and Scott Kuggeleijn for the sixth.

Kuggeleijn's hat-trick of sixes added a burst of momentum, but he departed at 21 runs. The tailenders attempted big shots, resulting in Northern Brave being bundled out for 137 runs in 19.5 overs, with Frederick Walker contributing a quick unbeaten 21 runs.

Auckland's bowlers, led by Danru Ferns (3 wickets) and Louis Delport (3 wickets), along with contributions from Sean Solia, Ryan Harrison, and Ben Lister, played a pivotal role in securing the victory.
