Milestone
So that also brings an end to our coverage of the 11th game of Super Smash 2023-24. This is me Hiren Kumar signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Wali Siddiqui and Soumarya Dutta along with Scorer/Analyst Ashok Dayma. CHEERS!!
Nick Kelly , Wellington Firebirds Captain- It was a really good performance and really proud of the young boys. Tashkoff, Younghusband and Abbas did well. We did a great job to get to 180 towards the end, although 200 seemed possible at one stage. We are pumped up at the moment but cautious due to what happened last year. We won't be complacent and will take it game by game.
Tom Blundell (Player of the Match)- “Great opportunity to come back to Wellington to play with these great bunch of lads. It was nice to have a bit of freedom with the bat, especially after and test and ODI series. Just a slight niggle to the knee but should be ready for the next game.”
13:13 IST and 20:45 M Local Time - All over. Wellington win by 23 runs. They sit on top of the points table with 3 wins to their name. They were clinical with both bat and ball and will be happy with the way they performed today.

Put to bat first, the Wellington batters did a good enough job to post 177/8 in their 20 overs. Tim Robinson started the innings with a positive intent and played a good little knock of 20 off 11 balls. Tom Blundell looked scratchy initially but once he got set, he was all over the Braves and smashed their bowlers for fun. He played a fantastic knock of 71 off just 29 balls. In the end, Tashkoff and Callum McLachian played good cameos and scored 22 runs each.

The Brave bowlers, on the other hand, were expensive but did a decent job in the end to restrict them under the 180 mark. Neil Wagner was the pick of the bowlers and was the only one who bowled economically. He ended with the figures of 3/17 in his 4 overs. Bret Hampton and Tim Pringle also bowled very well and picked up 2 wickets each.

Coming to the chase, the powerplay thoroughly belonged to the Wellington bowlers, and picked up 3 big wickets, and also controlled the run flow. Their spinners were also brilliant in the middle overs and picked up wickets at regular intervals. Peter Younghusband (3/21) and Nathan Smith (2/27) were the pick of the bowlers for them.

For the Braves, they would not be happy with their batting performance. Their top order was dismissed cheaply inside the powerplay. Skipper Jeet Raval was a lone warrior and kept their hopes alive when he was on the crease. He played a wonderful knock of 62 off 42 balls. Tim Pringle also played a solid knock of 30* off 17 lower down the order but it was too late. In the end, Wellington will be happy with their all-around performance and will look to continue their winning momentum in the upcoming games as well.

Stay Tuned for the Presentations coming your way.

2 Back of a length and outside off stump. Pringle swipes it through deep mid wicket for a couple of runs.
19.4 N Smith to T Pringle
