Head-to-head (Last five matches):

Central Stags: 3
Auckland Aces: 2
Pitch Report: The Pukekura Park in New Plymouth offers a pitch that is quite helpful to batters as well as bowlers in nature. With good seam movement off the track, pacers are expected to do better here, while batters, once settled, can look to score big. Teams prefer to chase the total after winning the toss, with the average first innings score being 190.

Preview by Aashay Chopade

We are into the 8th game of Super Smash 2023-24 and it will be Central Stags up against Auckland Aces at the beautiful Pukekura Park. The Central Stags lost their first game but came back strongly in the second game to register a comprehensive win while Auckland Aces started the tournament with a bang, but had to contain with rain in their last match. Both teams have some quality players in their ranks and with crucial points up for grabs, expect a fierce competition.

Central Stags posted massive 206 with the bat in the last game after faltering in the first one, thanks to an unbelievable knock from the experienced Doug Bracewell. He smashed 93 off 33 balls while Dane Cleaver also played a handy knock. The duo of Tom Bruce and Will Young was also back for the last game and expect them to fire soon.

On the bowling front, Jayden Lennox with his left-arm spin was absolutely brilliant while the experienced duo of Blair Tickner and Ajaz Patel also did well. They have quite a few bowling options with skipper Bruce also showing his bowling prowess in the last encounter, and overall Stags look quite a solid unit.

Auckland Aces, on the other hand, will be without many of their star players in this game. Finn Allen, Mark Chapman and Jimmy Neesham are away for national duties while Adithya Ashok was initially named in the squad has been ruled out due to injury. Matt Gibson has been added in his place. The likes of Lockie Ferguson, Simon Keene, Yahya Zeb are also out due to injury but such is the depth of Aces, that they still have quality players left in the tank.

The powerful batting duo of Will O'Donnell and Cole Briggs are back in the squad while Martin Guptill who displayed some great form in the last game will also be itching to get a big one. Sean Solia did not score much in the last game, but he is an important player with his all-round skills while the skipper Robert O'Donnell started the tournament with a bang. Nikith Perera made his debut in the first game and is likely to be persisted despite average returns.

Ben Lister was the one who bowled brilliantly along with Danru Ferns in their win in the opening game and they would have to be at the top of their game in this one too. Can Auckland Aces stop a rejuvenated Central Stags unit. Let's find out.
