That is an end to the league stages of Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 2023. Shivamogga Lions are the latest to get to the semi-finals. They will play the Hubli Tigers in the first semi-final tomorrow. Following this, the Mysore Warriors face the defending champions Gulbarga Mystics in the second semi-final. Shreyas Gopal (POTM and Shivamogga Lions Captain): "It was really good. There was not much dew tonight when I and Pranav Bhatia were bowling. I was not aware of our 100-run partnership (between Gopal and Manohar). It was about playing risk-free cricket and rotating the strike well. We just played cautiously and pounced on the loose balls. It was holding up a bit.
If I was a bit more cruel, then I would say, our bowlers could have done well and restricted them to a total even below what we have done now. As I said, it was holding up a bit. Hence I didn't go for the slider and didn't bowl quicker which would have made it easy for the batters. I trusted my leg spinners and hit the pitch hard with a slow pace. I learnt that from observing the chinaman bowler they had in the first innings. It was difficult to get away from those slow balls. I didn't want it to get easy for them.
I told my bowlers to stick to the basics and put a string of good balls in an over. 10 runs per over was fine on this pitch. A good job done by the bowlers. We will be playing Hubli Tigers tomorrow in the first semi-final. They are a good team but we are looking forward to the contest."

9:06 PM IST and Local Time: Brilliant, brilliant close to the league stages of the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 2023! Shivamogga Lions hold the nerves and get past the Bengaluru challenge to get a spot in the top four. Shivamogga have knocked out Mangaluru Dragons as well.
A roller coaster of a contest and at the end of it all, Shivamogga had the steel nerves to get past the winning line. Earlier in the game, Bengaluru won the toss and opted to bowl first. Shubhang Hegde bowled well in the Powerplay and removed Nihal Ullal in the 4th over. Rohan Kadam (35 off 26) and Vinay Sagar (32 off 25) added a 42-run stand for the second wicket before another spinner Sarfaraz Ashraf broke this partnership in the 9th over. Tanish Mahesh struck twice in the 12 over and reduced the Lions down to 86/4.
Abhinav Manohar and Shreyas Gopal rebuilt and rebuilt in a massive manner adding 102-run for the 5th wicket. Manohar made full use of the dropped chances and clubbed the fastest fifty of the season, remaining unbeaten at 58 off 25. Gopal (43 off 23) was cleaned up in the final over by Mahesh, who finished his evening with an expansive figures of 4-0-50-3. S Shivaraj got a streaky boundary off the final ball and got Shivamogga to 192/5 in 20 overs.
Chasing a massive target to spoil the part of the Lions, Bengaluru didn't quite get off to a good start. Skipper Mayank Agarwal failed yet again with his opposite number accounting for his dismissal inside the Powerplay. Jasper EJ looked scratchy in his stay of 21 balls, scoring just 22 runs.
Dega Nischal, the impact player on the batting side, made a huge impact in the game and struck a few glorious arrays of strokes, smashing a brilliant 68 off 40 balls. With him in the crease, Shivamogga were on the back foot. Nischal had a 60-run partnership for the 4th wicket with Shubhang, who was supporting the classy hitter very well. Once HS Sharath broke this partnership in the 15th over, the pressure shifted back at the Blasters.
Bengaluru succumbed to the rising required run rate and lost wickets in clusters, losing their way in the slog overs. A few run-outs in the course of the chase didn't help their cause as well. Suraj Ahuja (29 off 19) struck a few lust blows but the target was a bit too far a bridge to cross for the Bengaluru-based franchise. Aditya Somanna (2/24) and Sharath (1/29) bowled brilliantly in the death overs and made sure that Shivamogga won the game by 11 runs and made it to the next stage of the tournament.

1 Shivamogga are officially through to the semi-finals. A high full toss outside off. Gaurav stretches and gets a toe end on the slash towards extra cover for a single. The Lions become the fourth semi-finalist and have knocked out Mangaluru Dragons!

W WICKETTTTT!!! And that's it! Shivamogga Lions are through to the semis! A low full toss at the stumps. Kumar sits down on one knee and goes for the lofted stroke again. Not exactly off the middle of the bat. High in the air for a while and almost clears wide long-on. But Naveen in the deep is very close to the fence and takes a superb catch under pressure. As cool as a cucumber!
