That's it from the first game of the Maharaja T20. Ninaad Dixit here signing off on behalf of AkshayaKrishna Polya and Dushyant Kumar, my co-commentator and scorer respectively. Stay tuned for an action packed weekend from the cricketing world.
Vyshak Vijaykumar (Gulbarga Mystics Captain): "Yeah, I think the boys did very well. The bowlers hit the right areas and did a great job. As much as the team doing well, it (individual performance) doesn't matter. Here in Chinnaswamy, the tam that bowls first gets good help from the surface and it just did that for us.

Yeah, I think, Mansur, the bowling coach has sent his messages to keep it simple and bowl on one correct area and keep doing it consistently. Abhilash Shetty just did that and reaped rewards.

Chethan LR and Aadarsh Prajwal were superb with the bat, giving a great start for us and setting the tone in the chase. We were well in front and it is good to start the season with a win. Thank you, sir."
Abhilash Shetty (Player of the match): "Wicket was little slow. We decided to bowl to our strengths and keep it simple which worked for us. It feels great to take Mayank's wicket all the time, he is Indian cricketer. I got wickets in the powerplay so Vyshak gave me three wickets upfront and gave one in the end. Me and Vyshak are playing together since a long time. Having him as a captain is very lucky and makes me happy. Communication between us is very good."

4:15 PM: The Gulbarga Mystics win the inaugural game of the Maharaja T20 league in triumphant fashion defeating Bengaluru Blasters by 6 wickets with 15 balls to spare. The fast bowlers earlier did a commendable job restricting the blasters for 137/6 after winning the toss.

Chasing a not so difficult target of 138, openers LR Chethan (36 off 24) and Aadarsh Prajwal (31 off 20) added 61 runs in the powerplay. Their 63-run stand was broken by left arm spinner S Hegde (3/25) right after the powerplay.

Hegde struck in the ninth and eleventh over as well getting rid of Chethan, Aadarsh and then number 4, R Smaran who failed to reach double figures. KV Aneesh (29* off 31) batting at number 3 added 46 runs for the fourth wicket with Amit Verma (28 off 20) but just as the team was inching close to a win, impact player Mohammed Sarfaraz Ashraf got rid of Verma.

With only four more runs required to win, Aneesh teamed up with Macneil Noronha (2* off 3) to close the game in the 18th over. Hegde and Sarfaraz Ashraf (1/21) were the only wicket takers for Blasters. Lochan Appanna bowled a tidy couple of overs but other bowlers failed to create an impact and did not build the required pressure.
