That's it from our coverage of this game and the series as a whole. Thank you for being with us today. More cricketing actions still to come on the last day of the year. Stay tuned for it. This is Ayan Chatterjee signing off now on behalf of my co-commentator Deepak Prakash alongside scorer/analyst Bishal Mandal. Stay safe, happy, and cool. Wishing all our viewers Happy New Year in advance.
Shanto and Santner hold the trophy πŸ† and pose for a photograph.
Najmul Hossain Shanto (Bangladesh Captain): "I think the bowlers did a great job. Bowlers did the job, but the batters let us down today. In T20S, start is important but we didn't take the game deep and that is the mistake we did and cost us the game in the end. Happy with the tour overall."
Player of the Series: Shoriful Islam.
Mitchell Santner (Player of the Match & New Zealand Captain): "Yeah, it was nice to get a win. I was just thinking about changing the pace, trying to get a bit of bounce out of the wicket. But I think as a whole, you know, the seamers bowled extremely well as well to keep them to 110 on a pretty good pitch. We knew up top that the powerplay was key and we did extremely well to take wickets in the powerplay."
Player of the Match: Mitchell Santner
8:49 AM IST, 4:19 PM Local Time: So, rain does have the last say but not before we got the overs in required to constitute a match. It was a low scoring topsy turvy game and in the end, New Zealand ends up on the winning side by 17 runs under the DLS method. They level the series 1-1 after the 3-match series. Bangladesh fought hard with the ball, but New Zealand held their nerve in the end.

Let's recap you how things unfolded at the Bay Oval. Bangladesh were put into bat first by New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner. The Tigers lost wickets at regular intervals and never really got going. Rony Talukdar scored 10 while Najmul Hossain Shanto the skipper scored 17 and was the top scorer. Towhid Hridoy scored 16 and Afif Hossain scored 14. Rishad Hossain also scored 10 in the end, but too many wickets lost at the wrong time and they finished with 110 in 19.2 overs. 11 extras given by the fielding side.

Mitchell Santner, the skipper was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4/16 in 4 overs. Ish Sodhi went wicketless but went for only 16 runs in his 4 overs. A couple of wickets apiece in the end for Tim Southee, Adam Milne and Ben Sears. They all kept things tight till the end.

Chasing 111 for a series levelling win, New Zealand lost early wickets as Tim Seifert, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, and Mark Chapman fell cheaply. But it was Finn Allen who held the innings together and top scored with 38 runs off 31 balls. Later on, Jimmy Neesham and Mitchell Santner got together for a vital partnership. Neesham scored 28* off 20 balls while the skipper Santner was on 18* off 20 balls. New Zealand were 95/5 in 14.4 overs with 7 extras given by the fielding side when the rain intervened and never relented to have the final say in the game.

From Bangladesh's point of view, a couple of wickets apiece for Mahedi Hasan and Shoriful Islam as they looked most threatening today. There was also a run out in this innings. The bowlers tried, but there was not enough runs on the board in the end.

So, New Zealand wins this by 17 runs under the DLS method as the 3-match T20I series ends in a 1-1 stalemate. This is the first time Bangladesh draws a T20I series in New Zealand. Previously, they have lost all of them. Stay tuned for the presentations.
8:48 AM IST, 16:18 Local Time: The news coming from the center is the match has been called off, and New Zealand win by 17 runs (DLS). The series ends on a level term.
8:31 AM IST, 16:01 Local Time: It has started to drizzle here at Mount Maunganui. The umpires converge in the middle and call for the covers as the drizzle has gotten heavier. The DLS par score stands at 78 runs, and the Black Caps are well ahead in the game, according to DLS. It's pelting down at the moment.
