That's a wrap on our coverage of this third T20I between India and South Africa with the series ending 1-1. Do join us tomorrow for all cricketing actions across the globe and across formats. For now, this is Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my co-commentator AkshayaKrishna Polya alongside scorer/analyst Raju Khariya. Stay safe, happy, and cool. Goodnight and CHEERS!
Both captains get a hand on the trophy and they share smiles in front of the cameras.
Suryakumar Yadav (Player of the Match and Series, India Captain): "I am good. Not doing bad and I am walking. Always a great feeling to get triple figures and then to win the match in the end was great to see. Yes, that's right. We wanted to play that brand of cricket and glad could play that way. The boys are trying hard and giving their best and they work hard a lot, Kuldeep is working really hard and he is never happy with 3 wickets or 4 wickets. He always wants more. To get 5 wickets in the end was great to see from him. I think it's important to know your game and work on it going forward. Always keep improving and evolving all the time. That's my main intention. Thank You."
Aiden Markram (South Africa Captain): "To be honest, we were happy with chasing that score of 200+. The wicket was excellent, small ground, and we were okay with the score knowing how the pitch played as I watched it when fielding. Felt we could have chased it down. Was chaseable. It was slightly on the lower side.
It seemed batters could hit it everywhere when they were batting. But it was their batters who batted excellently and made it look so easy.
It would have been better had we done a bit better. There are some positives that we can take forward. A couple of good things and a couple of things we can work on. We have a few young ones to be seen in the ODIs."
11:56 PM IST and 8:26 PM Local Time: We are ready with the post-match presentation...
Did You Know?
Suryakumar Yadav's 4 T20I hundreds all came in different countries!
With this win, India have managed to keep their record intact of not losing a T20I series to South Africa since 2015.
-This is India's biggest win against South Africa in T20Is
-2.5-0-17-5 is Kuldeep Yadav's best-ever figures in this format and this performance comes on his 29th birthday
11:48 PM IST, 8:18 PM Local Time: So, a convincing 106-run win for India against South Africa sees them level the 3-match series 1-1 with one match washed out. They have outplayed the Proteas in all facets of the game and deserve the win tonight. South Africa will be the first to acknowledge that they were outplayed today.
Chasing a stiff target of 202 for the win, South Africa never got going and lost wickets at regular intervals, Matthew Breetzke and Reeza Hendricks fell for single digit scores. Skipper Aiden Markram looked comfortable out there before he was dismissed for 25 off 14 balls. David Miller stayed till the end and was the last man to be dismissed for 35. Ferreira got to double figures. But it was a spectacular collapse as South Africa were bowled out for 95 in 13.5 overs. 3 extras given by the fielding side.
It was spin to win for India today. Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers in the end as he got a five wicket haul on his birthday. He finished with 5/17 in 2.5overs. A couple of wickets for Ravindra Jadeja as he was the stand-in skipper in the field due to Surya's injury. A wicket apiece for Arshdeep Singh, and Mukesh Kumar. Siraj bowled well and was unlucky not to take a wicket as he beat the outside edge a lot of times.
Earlier in the game, India were put into bat first by South Africa. The Indians lost Shubman Gill and Tilak Varma early. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the initial aggressor as he played a sublime knock of 60 off 41 balls. He was ably supported by skipper Suryakumar Yadav. After Jaiswal got out it was the Suryakumar Yadavshow as SKY registered his 4th T20I hundred in 4 different countries which in itself is a record. He scored 100 off 56 balls. Rinku Singh got into double figures as he scored 14. They fell away towards the end, but still managed to get to 201/7 in 20 overs. 9 extras given by the fielding side.
From South Africa's bowling point of view, Keshav Maharaj was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/26 in 4 overs. Lizaad Williams picked up a couple of wickets for 46 runs in 4 overs. A wicket on debut for Nandra Burger, and Tabraiz Shamsi. They were a bit off with the ball and in the end, ended on the losing side.
So, India wins by 106 runs which is their highest margin of victory against South Africa in T20IS. The series ends at 1-1. Stick around for the presentations.
It's all over here as Kuldeep gets 4 wickets in his last 7 balls and 5 wickets in the match as India win this game by 106 runs to win the game.
13.5 K Yadav to D Miller
W WICKETTTTT!!! Kuldeep Yadav finishes things off in style! It's all over for South Africa in the decider. India thrashed the hosts by a massive margin of 106 runs and levelled the three-match series 1-1. Kuldeep gets his fifth wicket, and this is one heck of a spell from the chinaman bowler. Fuller-length delivery at the leg stump. Miller gets down on one knee and gets inside the line for a sweep but is too full to be playing it and misses the ball onto the stumps. Smiles all around the Blue camp as the spinners win the game for India.
13.4 K Yadav to T Shamsi
1 Googly on a length pitching outside leg and turning away at the stumps. Shamsi turns it to square leg for one to get off the mark.
