So, that is it from this Melbourne Derby at the iconic 'G'. The Stars end their campaign on a high and the Gades languish at the bottom of the table. Despite a spirited effort with the ball, rain forced them against the wall.

So, this is Arijit Kundu signing off from the coverage on behalf of my co-commentator, Anirudh Modi, and scorer, Dushyant Madhukar. Goodbye!
3:30 PM IST, 9:00 PM Local Time: So, it's the rain that favors the Women in Green in this Melbourne Derby between the Stars and the Renegades. In pursuit of the chase of 119 runs, the Renegades lost their openers- Tammy Beaumont and Emma de Broughe in the same over. It was Kim Garth who gave the early breakthrough to the Stars. At the brink of the powerplay, they were reeling at 12-2 with Hayley Matthews and Harmanpreet Kaur at either end. This is when the rain invaded the venue and created a delay.

After a twenty minutes delay, the resumption took place and Matthews smattered two boundaries to bridge the gap of the dls par total. However, it was not enough and the rain came back once again. This time it did not stop until the officials called up a Stars victory by eight runs via the DLS method.

Earlier, the Melbourne Stars Women won the toss and chose to bat first, but their decision proved a disaster. By the end of the powerplay, Matthews and Prestwidge had sent three Stars batters back to the dugout.

Sutherland and Flintoff put up a 45-run stand, but Harmanpreet Kaur quickly extinguished the blaze by removing Sutherland directly after the drinks break after she had hit 36 runs off 28 deliveries.

Harmanpreet did not stop there; in her next over, she removed Flintoff to add additional pressure, and the Stars fell. With the exception of Nicole Fultam's 20 runs off 20 balls, the Renegades cruised through their lower middle order and inched near the run-a-ball mark to end the innings. Matthews, Prestwidge, Harmanpreet and Wareham bagged a couple of wickets.

3:26 PM IST and 8:56 PM Local Time: Well, we can see a few of the players shaking their hands. So, that is it. The Melbourne Stars have won the game via DLS method.
3:09 PM IST and 8:39 PM Local Time: The drizzle is just got a bit heavy and the players are forced back to the dugout. The two Renegades batters- Matthews and Kaur were reluctant to trudge off the field. They are eight runs behind the DLS par score now.

The brollies are up and we are in for a delay. Stay tuned....
Arijit: Perfect from Matthews!! She's trying to bridge the gap of dls par score as the drizzle is around.
5.3 S Moloney to Matthews
4 FOUR! Excellent execution from Matthews here! Short of the wicket, outside the off stump, Matthews pounces on the width offered and plays an uppercut over the point infield to add 4 more runs to the tally!
5.2 S Moloney to Matthews
4 FOUR! Matthews is looking to get a move on here! Short of the wicket, outside the off stump, Matthews goes for a big slash, and the ball flies off the blade past the short third fielder for a boundary!
There's some drizzle now and therefore Matthews will look to maximise the number of fours here.
5.1 S Moloney to Matthews
0 Moloney begins, over the wicket, good length delivery, outside the off stump, misses out on an inside-out loft. Keeper takes the bails off, soft appeal but no interest.

0 Dot to end the over, loud appeal! But the umpire is unmoved. Full length delivery, on the stumps, Kaur misses out on the glance and the ball hits her pads.
4.5 S Day to Matthews
1 Length delivery, outside the off stump, cuts it to point for a single.
4.4 S Day to H Kaur
1 Full length delivery, on the stumps, paddles it behind to fine leg for a single.
4.3 S Day to Matthews
