11.58 AM IST, 05.28 PM Local Time: That's it...It's a convincing victory for the Sydney Thunder Women as they put on an excellent all-round performance, defeating the Melbourne Stars Women by 9 wickets.

Earlier, the Melbourne Stars Women opted to bat first and faced a rocky start, losing key wickets early, including Meg Lanning and Sophie Reid. However, Annabel Sutherland and Sophia Dunkley formed a crucial partnership, contributing over 70 runs for the fifth wicket. Dunkley scored 34 runs, while Sutherland remained unbeaten on 42, guiding the Stars to a competitive total of 123/5 in 20 overs.

Hannah Darlington was the standout bowler for the Sydney Thunder Women, claiming two wickets for just 13 runs in her 4 overs, while Sammy-Jo Johnson took one wicket.

Sydney Thunder Women put on a remarkable batting performance in their chase of 124 runs. Openers Tahlia Wilson and Chamari Athapaththu posted an outstanding partnership of 119 runs for the first wicket in just 11.4 overs. Athapaththu's aggressive innings of 69 runs in 40 balls, featuring 11 fours and 2 sixes, set the tone for the chase.

Phoebe Litchfield joined Wilson to see the team across the finish line, with Wilson remaining unbeaten on 45 runs off 33 balls. The Thunder reached their target with ease, scoring 128/1 in just 12.5 overs.

Sophia Dunkley was the lone wicket-taker for the Melbourne Stars in what proved to be a challenging day for both batting and bowling for them. Sydney Thunder's dominant performance handed them a convincing victory.
