Well that's all she wrote for today folks! BBL 2023 is firmly up and running! The tournament is garnering heat! Stay Tuned for all the coverage!

This is Anirudh Modi, signing off along with my co-commentator Deepak Prakash, and our scorer/analyst Paras Yadav! See you on the next one!
Laurie Evans (Player of the Match): "Well, to be honest, I'm surprised I'm sitting. I thought Lance Morris should probably be here taking five for any game, you know, with some crucial wickets. But, yeah, it was nice.

Yeah, he's (Lance Morris) an amazing talent and he's worked hard and there's a great franchise behind him. And there's obviously no secret behind why they keep producing players like that. And to go and take five wickets with crucial ones as well when the game was on the line. So, yeah, all credit to him."

Player of the Match: Laurie Evans
7:04 PM IST, 9:34 PM Local Time | In an extraordinary turn of events, Perth Scorchers pick up 7 wickets in the last 5 overs to hand Adelaide Strikers another crushing blow! Scorchers raise the heat and blow away the Strikers by 42 runs to continue their winning streak!

Adelaide Strikers won the toss and elected to bowl first,
and that was a decision which in hindsight cost them the game. The opening pair of Sam Whiteman and Zak Crawley registered 34/0 at the end of the powerplay.

The Strikers managed to dismiss both the openers in quick succession but a Josh Inglis cameo of 26 runs off 19 balls and Aaron Hardie's supportive innings of 34 runs off 30 balls laid the platform for pure carnage in the form of Laurie Evans' innings! Evans smashed the Strikers for an unbeaten 85 runs off 28 balls to power his team to a big total of 211/4 at the end of their 20 overs!

Henry Thornton was the pick of the bowlers with the figures of 2/31 from 4 overs but despite his best efforts the Strikers' batters had a huge total in front of them!

Come the chase, it was a decent start for the Strikers. Despite losing D'Arcy Short early, Lynn and Short powered Strikers to 31/1 at the end of the powerplay. Lynn's cameo ended at 27 runs off 16 balls before Adam Hose's untimely wicket fell at 91/3 after 9.5 overs.

Matthew Short was undeterred through it all and the explosive opener established a strong 62 run-stand with Thomas Kelly enroute to a total of 74 runs off 44 balls before the Morris magic began.

The lanky pacer delivered his career defining performance by picking up 3 wickets enroute to a fifer in a mighty collapse for the Strikers. Morris opened the floodgates by picking up Short in the 16th over and the rest of the lineup followed in the remaining 4 overs. Morris eventually ended up with the figures of 5/24 from 4 overs to lead his side into celebrations!

Adelaide Strikers would be gutted with their fourth defeat in a row and need to turn things around quickly in the next game. Perth meanwhile go to second in the rankings with the healthiest run-rate in the table!
19.2 J Richardson to C Boyce
W That's it, Richardson puts the final nail in the coffin and the Strikers are bundled out for 169 runs in the final over of the innings, falling 42 runs short of the target. Full toss on the leg stump line. Boyce makes room and looks to heave it over mid-on but fails to time it well as the ball flies towards mid-on, who takes a dolly. So, Perth Scorchers' winning streak continues, while the Strikers have lost their fourth game on the trot.

19.1 J Richardson to H Nielsen
W CAUGHT! Richardson has a wicket to his name now! Length delivery on the stumps. Nielsen shuffles a tad and goes for a scoop shot, looking to clear it over fine leg but fails to get enough wood on it. The ball flies towards deep fine leg and the fielder in the deep takes a good low catch.
