Player of the Match: Paul Walter.
3:50 PM IST, 9:20 PM Local Time: So, rain has the final say to the proceedings as this match ends abruptly. But not before, the required number of overs were bowled. In the end, Brisbane Heat wins the game and stay unbeaten in BBL 2023/24. They win by 3 runs under the DLS Method in this top of the table clash.

Let's recap as to how things panned out through the course of the day at Coffs Harbour. Sydney Sixers put into bat by Brisbane Heat lost wickets at regular intervals as James Vince and Kurtis Patterson went early. Josh Philippe scored and held the innings with his 41 off 36 balls. Skipper Moises Henriques scored 22 off 22 balls. Jack Edwards struck some lusty blows in his 22 off 15 balls. Ben Dwarshuis was unbeaten on 13* off 6 balls including a six and a boundary in the end to get the score to 141/8 in 20 overs with 4 extras given by the fielding side.

Matthew Kuhnemann was the pick of the bowlers for Brisbane Heat with figures of 2/19 in 4 overs. A couple of wickets for Paul Walter. Mitchell Swepson picked up a wicket and was economical in his 1/26 in 4 overs. A wicket apiece for Spencer Johnson and Xavier Bartlett as well.

Chasing a target of 142 initially in 20 overs, Brisbane Heat lost skipper Colin Munro cheaply. Josh Brown played well for his 43 off 31 balls. Matthew Renshaw and Sam Billings fell cheaply. Nathan McSweeney was joined by Paul Walter when the first rain break came in after 12 overs in which Heat were 80/4.

The match was reduced to 17 overs a side with revised target of 124 in 17 overs. McSweeney was unbeaten on 22* off 25 balls while Paul Walter was with him on 23* off 15 balls. The Heat were 104/4 in 14.3 overs when the rain tumbled down and did not relent forcing the umpires to call off play. The par score was 101 and the Heat won by 3 runs under DLS.

From the bowling point of view, wickets were shared by Sydney Sixers bowlers. Jack Edwards. Sean Abbott, Steven O'Keefe, and Ben Dwarshuis got a wicket each to their name. They tried but were beaten by the better side on the night.

So, the Heat win by 3 runs under DLS method and stays unbeaten in the tournament. They remain at the top of the table while Sixers stay in second place.
3:47 PM IST and 9:17 PM Local Time | The umpires enter the ground once again. Looks like this is the end. Heat players are shaking hands and hugging each other. Heat skipper Colin Munro is waiting for the official word. THAT's IT. BRISBANE HEAT STAY UNDEFEATED. THEY WIN BY 3 RUNS (DLS).
3:40 PM IST, 9:10 PM Local Time: Rain has started to tumble down again. The umpires look at each other and call for the covers. We are hearing that Brisbane Heat are now ahead on DLS. The DLS Par score is 101 runs after 14.3 overs what we are being told. More big covers being put on the pitch. BRISBANE HEAT ARE 3 RUNS AHEAD OF THE PAR SCORE. Looks like we might be done for the night here.
14.3 Abbott to P Walter
4 FOUR! Slashes over the off-side, one bounce and a boundary. Length ball, just outside off, Walter shuffles and carves it over the cover-point for a boundary. Rain's tumbling again. Everyone's looking at the umpires who are looking at the umbrellas. The players are walking off. Looks unlikely that there'll be play again. The rain is heavy. It doesn't look great. The covers are on once again. Brisbane Heat need 20 more to win from 15 balls (DLS).
14.2 Abbott to P Walter
0 Low full-toss, on middle, Walter drives it to mid-on.
The 100 comes up for Brisbane Heat in the 15th over. They are in the chase.
14.1 Abbott to P Walter
4 FOUR! As good as Silk is, he can't get to it. Over the wicket, low full-toss, down leg, Walter flicks it in the gap between long-on and deep mid-wicket for a boundary. Solid from Walter!
Power Surge has been taken by Heat. This is the only over of it. Sean Abbott will bowl this over.
This match is getting interesting. 28 runs are now needed off 18 balls.
