An astonishing game to kick start the 13th edition of the Big Bash League. That will be it from our coverage of this fixture. Ninaad Dixit here bidding goodbye on behalf of my co-commentator Akshay Bhide and scorer Paras Yadav. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world.
Colin Munro (Player of the Match): "I said to Max, give me some KFC as we had a bet on who scores a fifty tonight. So, I get the treat from him. I donโ€™t know what the order will be. Maybe get some bucket. Yeah. Itโ€™s nice to get the win. Also, nice to have some Aussie boys back. Send them off with one in one and let them enjoy their Test cricket. We thought he (Maxwell) was bowling his best over. I tried to hit him straight which was a short boundary and I practiced it last night. So, happy to get some runs."

4:48 PM IST, 9:18 PM Local Time: The Brisbane Heat start their BBL campaign with a huge win against Melbourne Stars as they bundle the visitors for 111 and take the home game by a huge margin of 103 runs.

Stars skipper Glenn Maxwell won the bat flip and decided to have a bowl first. Opener Colin Munro scored an unbeaten 99 and helped Heat to put up 214/3 on the board. Marnus Labuschagne scored 30 and Heat skipper Usman Khawaja scored 28 in 19 balls.

In response, pace bowler Michael Neser started off in style getting rid of the Stars openers inside the first over. Joe Burns (22 off 23) and Glenn Maxwell (23 off 14) shared a 43-run partnership for the 3rd wicket but Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis (2 off 3) were sent back in the space of 5 balls by spin duo of Mitchell Swepson and Matthew Kuhnemann respectively.

Hilton Cartwright top scored with 33 in 16 balls adding 34 runs with Liam Dawson (7 off 10) for the 6th wicket but was the 7th man to depart as seamer Paul Walter deceived him with the change in pace.

The Stars lower order couldn't add any respite to the chase and were bundled out for 111 in the 16th over. Leg spinner Mitchell Swepson was the pick of the bowlers with 3/23, Xavier Bartlett produced an outstanding spell of 2/8 in 3 overs with Neser (2/30) taking his 2 in the very first over.

Kuhnemann (1/17) and Paul Walter (1/7) bowled tidy spell with Spencer Johnson (1/25) dismissing Dawson in an expensive spell. Each of the Heat batter scored into double digits and each bowler picked up at least a wicket starting the BBL campaign on a solid note.
