Biggest wins for England in World Cups (in terms of runs):

196 vs East Africa in Birmingham, 1975

160 vs Netherlands in Pune - TODAY

150 vs Afghanistan in Manchester, 2019
Jos Buttler (England Captain):"Yes absolutely. Great win. Malan gave us a start and then we had a wobble and then Stokes and Woakes with the partnership gave us the big total.

Yes, he always stands up for us and played sensibly with the bat alongside Woakes. I think 340 was a good score and we were happy with it.

See toss is a factor, but we have to play well and win. Toss is not the only factor to win. Chris Woakes bowled well and he deserved to get more wickets than the one he got. The two bowlers set it up for us as Willey and Woakes were brilliant.

I think it is a big game. Massive for both. We have to prepare well in Kolkata and then get the win to end what has been a disappointing tournament for us."
Scott Edwards (Netherlands Captain): "Yeah, obviously, it has been disappointing. We didn't start well with the ball. They got to a good start, but our bowlers did well to bring us back into the game. They batted well in the last half of the innings and got to a just above par total.

The same old story with the bat. It was a pretty good wicket. We held tight till the 43rd over, but c
redit to them, they have batted well and played well. Maybe we could've tried a couple of different plans.

Yeah, obviously, we needed to get the balance right. We were chasing 330+, and we needed to see the run rate as well as needed to keep wickets.

We will talk about it and check what could we have done better. As you said, we have been good in patches. We need to do well on a longer base.

Against India in Bengaluru, it would be an amazing atmosphere. The boys are looking forward to it."
England have jumped to the 7th place in the points table and have kept their qualifications hope alive for the Champions Trophy 2025. Netherlands are officially out of the semi-final race.
Ben Stokes (Player of the Match): "Yeah. More pleased to get the victory. It has been a tough World Cup for us but it was good to get the victory.

It was a nice pitch to bat on. Just the back of a length had some tennis bounce ball but the pitch looked good for batting.

We just had to read the scoreboard and keep batting. I tried to take the game deep and then cash in. We had a solid partnership in the middle. Looking at the scoreboard really helps.

We know he is an experienced cricketer. He is a genuine all-rounder. Having him bat lower down the order was great and he also bowled beautifully with the new ball. He showed what he is capable of and has shut out all the debates.

(On asked whether he would have left the squad after getting knocked out of the World Cup to look after his body) Not leaving anyone."

9:10 PM IST and Local Time: That's the end of the match and finally we see a win for England in World Cup 2023. They break their 5-match losing streak and beat the Netherlands by 160 runs to collect vital two points and climbs upwards in the table. All these points important for Champions Trophy qualifications. England have outplayed the Dutch in all facets of the game and in the end deserve the win.

Chasing a target of 340 for an unlikely win, the Dutch never got going and lost wickets at regular intervals. Max O' Dowd was the first one to go as he fell cheaply. Wesley Barresi scored 37 off 62 balls while Sybrand Engelbrecht scored 33 off 49 balls. Skipper Scott Edwards scored 38 off 42 balls. Bas de Leede got into double figures. Teja Nidamanuru remained unbeaten on 41* off 34 balls but lost his partners at the other end. The innings fell away in the end as they were bowled out for 179 in 37.2 overs. 8 extras given by the fielding side.

England were terrific with the ball today. The spinners taking 6 wickets between them. Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid picked up 3 wickets apiece while David Willey picked up a couple of wickets to his name. Chris Woakes picked up a wicket to his name and we had a run out as well in the innings. England will be happy with this win.

Earlier in the game, England won the toss and decided to bat first. Jonny Bairstow fell relatively cheaply as he scored 15 off 17 balls. Dawid Malan looked good for his 87 off 74 balls as he took the attack to the opposition before being run out. Joe Root scored 28. But it was the Ben Stokes show as the southpaw scored a majestic 108 off 84 balls. He was ably supported by Chris Woakes who scored 51 off 45 balls. England were 192/6 and recovered really well to get to 339/9 in 50 overs. Harry Brook also got to double figures. As many as 21 extras given by the Netherlands as England ended with 339/9 in 50 overs.

It was a mixed day for the Dutch bowlers as they picked wickets but went for quite a few runs. Bas de Leede picked up the most wickets today as he picked up 3 wickets for 74 runs in 10 overs. A couple of wickets apiece for Aryan Dutt, and Logan van Beek. Paul van Meekeren picked up a wicket as well for 57 runs in 10 overs. A tough day in the office for Netherlands with both bat and ball.

So, a massive win for England by 160 runs as they climb to 7th in the points table. Stay tuned for the presentation ceremony.
37.2 M Ali to Meekeren
W STUMPED!!! That's the end of this fixture. Jos Buttler whips the bails in a flash and van Meekeren has no chance of getting back in the crease as he has literally run past the ball. This was a flighted delivery from Moeen with some drift outside off, van Meekeren steps out of the crease and looks to drive it on the up but ends up getting beaten on the outside edge. Buttler behind the stumps is very calm as he collects it cleanly and whips the bails in a flash to dismiss van Meekeren and close out this fixture. A solid performance sees England beat the Netherlands by 160 runs.
