10:35 PM IST, Local Time | A fantastic night for Australia and a dagger in the hearts of the English fans. Join us back tomorrow for more World Cup coverage as the tournament enters it's business end!

Until then, this is Anirudh Modi, signing off along with my co-commentators Ayan Chatterjee and Arijit Kundu, and our scorer/analyst Raju Khariya! See you on the next one!
Most defeats for a full member side in a World Cup edition:

Afghanistan (2019)- 9

Sri Lanka (1987)- 6

Bangladesh (2007)- 6

West Indies (2019)- 6

Bangladesh (2023)- 6*

England (2023)- 6*
Pat Cummins (Australia Captain): "Yes, it's been great. The boys played beautifully and every game we are getting better. We are getting better every game and that is what we are working on.

Fielding is what we are getting better at. Everyone is willing to do and dive like hell and are committed.

Zampa is bowling beautifully out there. Did well with the bat and then with the ball and in the field. He is a match winner for us always.

For sure, they are great and Maxi and Mitchell will be back. So, there will be a headache with regards to selection.

Tonight was okay. It was not that bad. The ball slid on but it was fine as a whole.

Happy with the win but it was good to see the boys doing well despite the conditions."
Jos Buttler | England Captain: "I feel like I'm having the same chat after every game. Improvements from today again but again we come up short. It's certainly a low point for us and definitely as a captain to give very high hopes and then to be in this position, hurts a lot.

We have't done ourselves justice, coming into the tournament and it's incredibly tough to reach those highs again, and everyone knows the hard work that goes into that, and we feel bad for the people who support us at home through thick and thin.

At half-way, we thought we did well and it could have been better, a frustrating partnership between Starc-Zampa, and with the dew on the field to come up 30 runs short, we could have done better.

I wanted to be positive and felt that was the right shot to play and throw something back to the opposition. My own form has been one of the biggest concerns, the pivotal role I play for the team and my dip in form has really hurt us especially with the touch I was in coming into the tournament.

It's not far away, the Netherlands game and we hope to now end the tournament on a good note with wins."
Mitchell Starc: "Not our best start to the tournament, we started slowly and we are still waiting for that perfect game. They are defending champions and on their day they can be destructive. We expected them to come out a bit more aggressively but we bowled well to keep it under control.

We didn't really mention a par score at the halfway stage but Zampy's innings was fantastic. With 3/21 and a banger of a catch, he's had a hell of a day out there. Probably didn't get things right the other night, it's nice to get a full practice session and perform well today. Just focusing on jumping straight and it worked out well tonight and the one that swung to Joe early on, that's what I'm after.

For Joe's wicket I was stunned no one went up behind the stumps but good for Marnie to back me up and go upstairs. I don't think you can take anyone lightly in this tournament and our next opponents at Wankhede could prove to be quite a challenge. We saw India bowl well the other night and we could get swing there too."
Adam Zampa (Player of the Match): "Yes, I think summing up the conditions was important. The total was good but it was a tough total to defend. The ground got dewy and it was tough to grip the ball. It was about sticking to basics and bowl well in the end.

During the batting innings, just told Starc to bat positively and hang in there and help us score the runs. It was all about being positive out there. It was one of those days where everything clicked for us and took the catch well."
Player of the Match: Adam Zampa.
Most successive defeats for a full-member side in World Cups:

10:17 PM IST, Local Time | England are knocked out of the ICC Cricket World Cup! Their fiercest rivals Australia stab the last nail in the coffin as they defeat England by 33 runs to make their place stronger in the playoff spots!

England won the toss and elected to field first,
after dismissing Head early on and getting Warner in the follow-up, things were looking positive for England. However, the duo of Smith-Marnus stitched together a 75 run-stand for the 4th wicket to get Australia back on track.

Smith's un-timely dismissal was followed up by Inglis' quick departure but once again Marnus stood strong and formed another 61-run valuable partnership with Cam Green to bring Australia to a solid score. Marnus was eventually sent back by Mark Wood for 71 runs from 83 balls to give England hopes of restricting Australia under 250.

But thanks to valuable contributions from the lower middle order and a magical cameo of 29 runs from 19 balls from Adam Zampa, Australia were able to push the envelope and register a score of 286 all-out from their innings! Chris Woakes was the pick of the bowlers for his figures of 4/54 from his 9.3 overs.

Come the chase, Australia gave England early nightmares as Mitchell Starc dismissed Jonny Bairstow off the first ball, sending him back for a golden duck and then a few overs later getting the big wicket of Joe Root. It seemed like England's batting order was ready to falter once again.

And then hang-on said Dawid Malan and Ben Stokes. The Southpaws built a 84 run-stand to bring England back into the game with Malan being the first one to falter just after scoring his half-century. Ben Stokes carries on the good work and struck a 50 of his own before Adam Zampa turned his screws on.

The Aussie leggie first dismissed Ben Stokes for 64 runs off 90 balls, and then followed it up with crucial wickets of the skipper Jos Buttler for a solitary run and then Moeen Ali for 42 runs from 43 deliveries. Zampa's spell of 3/21 from his 10 overs put the game firmly in the Aussie court.

Kudos to England's lower order to make Australia sweat a little more for their victory as Woakes and Rashid played out an entertaining last phase of the match, but it was a little too far fetched for England as Australia dismissed the entire English side for 253 runs to seal victory and add to England's misery and knock them out of the World Cup!

Australia sit 3rd in the table behind India and South Africa with 10 points on the board and looking well on their way to the semi-finals! England meanwhile would want to forget their journey in this world cup as the defending champions are stuck at rock bottom with a solitary win from their 7 games so far.
Ajay: Not only England has been knocked out of this World Cup but their chances to get into the 2025 Champions Trophy look very bleak now. This is their new low at the Cricket's biggest stage alongside that horrendous 2015 World Cup campaign.
Josh Hazlewood delivers the crushing blow to England!
48.1 J Hazlewood to A Rashid
W WICKET! IN THE AIR AND TAKEN! England have now been officially knocked out of the tournament. The defending champions are out way too early than to their likings. After facing successive defeats to begin the campaign, the five-time Champions, Australia, stamp their authority with five wins on the trot. They stay in 3rd place with 10 points. The keeper calls for it and takes the catch. Short of a length banged into the pitch, Rashid goes for the pull shot and miscues it straight up in the air. Josh Inglis calls for the catch and takes it with the gloves on. So, England have been bowled out for 253 as they go down by 33 runs to Australia.
