So, that's it from Match 34 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. We will be back tomorrow for a double header in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. It's New Zealand vs Pakistan in the morning and that will be followed by England vs Australia in the afternoon. Bengaluru and Ahmedabad will be the venues for these two games. Make sure you join us tomorrow for all the action from the World Cup and keep in touch with us for all other cricketing actions across the globe and formats.

For now, this is Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Akshay Bhide and AkshayaKrishna Polya alongside scorers/analysts Zeeshan Naiyer and Raju Khariya. Stay safe, happy, and cool. Goodnight and CHEERS!
This is how the points table looks like šŸ‘‡šŸ‘‡

Most 50+ scores for Afghanistan in World Cups:

5 - Hashmatullah Shahidi

4 - Rahmat Shah

Most 50+ scores for Afghanistan in a single edition of a World Cup:

3 - Rahmat Shah (2023)

3 - Hashmatullah Shahidi (2023)

2 - Samiullah Shinwari (2015)

2 - Hashmatullah Shahidi (2019)

2 - Azmatullah Omarzai (2023)

2 - Rahmanullah Gurbaz (2023)

Hashmatullah Shahidi (Afghanistan Captain): "Thanks to Allah. I think both. We bowled well and third time consecutively that we achieved the chase. Proud of that. In this World Cup, we are looking at the board and playing according to the game situation and playing accordingly.

Nabi is a special player. Whenever team needs him as he delivers always. I think it's the team unity that we have built in this World Cup. All of them are playing as a unit and let's see how it goes.

Of course, we are all looking forward to that. The semis is crucial for us and we aim for that.

I lost my mother three months ago. So, to get to the semis will be great for the team and for my family.

We have been looking at refugee camps and how people are being displaced at the camps. Our thoughts are with them. I dedicate this victory to our people back home."
Scott Edwards (Netherlands Captain): "Yeah, Ahhh... Definitely not ideal. 4 run-outs of your top 6-7 batters, and then it is always hard to comeback. They have a quality spin attack, and we didn't have the middle-order batters in the crease to tackle them.

The theory we went in with was we could not really play it according to dew. We can't think about dew and come to the ground. We have done well batting first, a 280 sort of score would have been good even with dew around.

We need to get back to the drawing room and re-think our strategies, re-grouping before we meet England in our next game."
Mohammad Nabi (Player of the Match): "Yeah. Just focussing on my line and length and focusing on bowling dot balls. Sometimes the batters rush because the ball is too easy but I focus on my line and length and my variations.

I always stick to my plans. I try to use my angles which is easy for me. Variations are also valuable for me on some pitches. Sometimes I get wickets due to it. I always focus on dot balls. So the economy rate is low.

I always focus on my fitness. Trying to be fit and focus on rehab and diet. I love to play for Afghanistan. Thank You."

The Afghanistan squad moves around for a lap of honour! Lucknow has been Afghanistan's home ground in the past, and they love this crowd. Mujeeb, Gurbaz, Rashid, Ibrahim, Shahidi, Omarzai and you keep on naming them.
8:02 PM IST and Local Time: Hashmatullah Shahidi leads from the front and hits the winning runs as Afghanistan completes a clinical 7-wicket win over Netherlands with 18.3 overs to spare. They have outplayed the Dutch in all facets of the game and notch up their 4th win in the tournament. They climb upto 5th in the points table.

Chasing a very gettable 180 for the win, Afghanistan lost Rahmanullah Gurbaz relatively early for 10 runs. Ibrahim Zadran hung about and scored 20 off 34 balls. But it was Rahmat Shah who stood tall and scored a magnificent 52 off 54 balls and looked in control at Number 3. The skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi had a good partnership with Shah and took the team home with his unbeaten 56* off 64 balls. Azmatullah Omarzai was with his skipper and unbeaten on 31* off 28 balls. 12 extras were given by the fielding side as Afghanistan completed this chase in 31.3 overs.

The Dutch bowlers had a low score to defend and could not find much answers today. A wicket apiece for Logan van Beek, Roelof van der Merwe, and Zulfiqar. But these were mere consolations for the Dutch team in Lucknow.

Earlier in the game, Netherlands won the toss and elected to bat first on a used surface. After losing Wesley Barresi early, the Dutch got off to an enterprising start with Max O'Dowd and Colin Ackermann looking good out there. Max scored 42 off 40 balls before being brilliantly run out by Omarzai. Colin Ackermann scored 29 before being run out. Sybrand Engelbrecht held the innings together for a long time as he lost his partners from the other end. He scored 58 off 86 balls and was run out as well. They collapsed from 92/2 to 97/5 and never recovered. The innings fell away towards the end. Roelof van der Merwe and Aryan Dutt got into double figures as they battled their way to 179 all out in 46.3 overs. 16 extras given by the fielding side.

Before we go to the Afghanistan bowling, run outs were the pick of the proceedings as 4 runs out happened in the innings. Among the bowlers, Mohammad Nabi was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/28 in 9.3 overs. Noor Ahmad chipped in with a couple of wickets for 31 runs in 9 overs. A wicket for Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Rashid Khan went wicketless but came back with miserly figures of 0/31 in 10 overs. Farooqi leaked a lot of runs today.

So, a win for Afghanistan over Netherlands by 7 wickets with 18.3 overs to spare as they climb upwards to 5th place in the points table. Stay tuned for the presentations that come your way soon.
Afghanistan, Remember the Name! Four wins for the Afghan Atalans, and they continue to stay in contention to qualify for the semi-finals. England, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and now Netherlands, all have bowed down to the Hashmatullah Shahidi-led side. Afghanistan moved to the 5th spot overtaking Pakistan.
31.3 A Dutt to H Shahidi
4 Out he comes and away she goes. Skipper Shahidi finishes things in style. Fourth victory in World Cup 2023. Third successive win and Afghanistan are here to stay. Shahidi takes off his helmet and points to the heavens. This has been a remarkable journey for the Afghans. Coming to the ball, this was a flighted delivery on the stumps, Shahidi dances down the track and slogs it over mid wicket for a boundary. A couple of bounces and into the fence. Afghanistan beat the Netherlands by seven wickets.
