Never thought of this start from Australia, but it is what it is!!!! Plenty to ponder for Australia with successive defeats, while South Africa are working really hard to get rid of the chokers tag with back-to-back victories.

This is the first time since the 1992 edition that Australia have lost their first two games of the World Cup.
Temba Bavuma (South Africa Captain): "Yeah. I think 311 was over par. Probable 290-300 was the par score. I'm glad that we lost the toss as we also would have bowled first. Quinton going out and scoring like that, the credit goes to him.
Not much. I would be greedy if I said I would like to improve on things. It was close to a perfect game. They bowled well throughout the innings but we did a good job to post 300+ on the board. The bowlers also stepped up and did a fine job.
The bowlers were clinical from the word go. Lungi taking the new ball. KG bowling with that intensity in the middle overs. Keshav doing what he does best. We were 2-0 down against Australia in the home series but the character we have shown since then has been great.
You can't overlook the good work that we have done and achieved. We just have to enjoy the individual performances and come up tomorrow and try to come out as a team."

Pat Cummins (Australia Captain): "Quinny (Quinton de Kock) in particular batted well. I think 312 was gettable. If we want to be challenging for this tournament, we have to adapt to all the conditions. Everyone's hurting. We have a few days. We'll regroup. There're a few things we need to tidy up."
Quinton de Kock (Player of the Match): "Yeah. It was a great win for the boys. To be honest, we didn't know how the wicket would play but we assessed the conditions brilliantly and posted a good total on the board and came out on top.
As I said, the guys assessed the conditions and the pitch nicely. We talked about the scoring options. The score was definitely above par. We have seen the Lucknow team play here. It gets difficult to bat under lights.

9:34 PM IST and Local Time: A complete dominance from South Africa as they thrash the five-time World Champions by a massive margin of 134 runs. While the Proteas go bang, bang to win two on the trot, the Kangaroos are down with back-to-back defeats. The Temba Bavuma-led side are no longer underdogs as they have announced themselves on the bigger stage with consecutive bangers!!!!
Earlier in the game, Australia won the toss and put South Africa into the bat. Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma provided a brilliant start, adding 108 runs before the Men in Yellow finally held onto a catch in the 20th over. It was Glenn Maxwell who removed Bavuma (35 off 55), following which Rassie van der Dussen and de Kock stitched a 50-run partnership. Adam Zampa took care of van der Dussen (26 off 30) before QDK (109 off 105) smashed his second consecutive 100 in his last ODI World Cup.
Aiden Markram (56 off 44) hammered another blistering fifty-plus score and added 66 runs for the 4th wicket Heinrich Klaasen (29 off 27). At one stage, it looked as if South Africa would post more than 350, but a solid death bowling from the Aussies put the breakers on. David Miller (17 off 13) and Marco Jansen (26 off 22) struggled in the final overs but still managed to take the Rainbow Nation past 300.
Maxwell (10-1-34-2) was excellent with the ball alongside Mitchell Starc (9-1-53-2). Pat Cummins, Adam Zampa and Josh Hazlewood grabbed a wicket each.
Chasing 312 to win on a pitch that slowed down as the match progressed, Australian batters struggled to get going. Lungi Ngidi (8-2-18-1), Marco Jansen (7-0-54-2) and Kagiso Rabada (8-1-33-3) were brilliant with the pace and uneven bounce of the surface as the Aussies found themselves relying on 70/6 in the 18th over. There were a couple of controversial outcomes on the reviews as well with Steven Smith and Marcus Stoinis, which only added to the frustration of the Kangaroos.
Marnus Labuschange (46 off 74) and Mitchell Starc (27 off 51) added 69 runs for the 7th wicket, which only delayed the inevitable. Keshav Maharaj (10-0-30-2) was spectacular with the ball and sneaked in a stunning performance. Pat Cummins (22 off 21) and Adam Zampa (11 off 16) swung their bat at everything before Tabraiz Shamsi (7.5-0-38-2) cleaned up the tail in the 41st over, with Australia's scorecard reading 177!

40.5 T Shamsi to J Hazlewood
W High up in the air and taken by Rabada. That's it. A final nail in the coffin as South Africa beat Australia comprehensively by 134 runs. This was a tossed up leg-break outside off from Shamsi, Hazlewood's eyes lit up as he gets down on one knee and goes for a slog sweep but gets a top edge in the leg side. Rabada from mid wicket moves to his right, settles under this high ball and takes a simple catch. With this, Australia suffer back-to-back losses in the World Cup 2023.

2 Short and turning away outside off, Hazlewood punches it off the outer half of the bat past the backward point fielder for a couple of runs.
The last man Josh Hazlewood is out to bat with Australia nearing another massive defeat.
Killer Miller takes the catch at long-off and breathes a sigh of relief. A well-deserved wicket for Shamsi, who points out to Quinton de Kock, saying that the plan has worked out. Not sure what was the plan!!

W Cummins holes out in the deep. Shamsi gets himself in the wickets column by dismissing the Australian skipper. Bowls a tossed up googly around off, Cummins looks to lift it straight back over the bowler's head but ends up getting it off the outer half of the bat. He hits it straight down the throat of long off where Miller takes a fine catch with a reverse cup. South Africa are one wicket away from wrapping up this game.
