Harmanpreet Kaur (POTM and India Captain): "When you are able to do at the end of the day what you have planned. It was a great team effort, our bowlers bowled well, especially the young girls who played their first game today. Overall it was a great performance by our team.
I wanted to see how they are going to bowl in the first 6 overs. They bowled really well and understood the conditions very early that shows how keen you are to bowl for the team and apart from them Deepti also bowled really well. She is an experienced bowler and showed her caliber today.
Smriti is always ready to give 100% to the team and today also she shown her character. With a batting order comprising of Shafali Verma and Smriti, you don't need to worry about too much. We wanted to finish 4-5 overs early and really happy we were able to do that."

I think we started well, but in the middle, we played a lot of dot balls, we need to work on that."

4:19 PM IST, 4:49 PM Local time: India win the first T20I against Bangladesh by 7 wickets! A wonderful bowling performance was followed by a fine effort from the skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana as the women in blue chased down a modest total of 115 with 22 balls remaining.
Earlier, tidy spells from Pooja Vastrakar (4-1-16-1) and Deepti Sharma (0-14) helped restrict Bangladesh for 114/5 as Shafali Verma and debutant Minnu Mani finished with a wicket apiece. Shorna Akter finished unbeaten at 28 being the highest scorer for the hosts.
Chasing a modest total of 115, Team India didn't get an ideal start as they lost opener Shafali Verma in the very first over for a three-ball duck. Jemimah Rodrigues was promoted to number 3 and got off to a good start but chopped one back on the stumps with India reeling at 21/2 in 4 overs.
From there, Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet added 70 runs for the third wicket batting India out of trouble. Mandhana was stumped off Sultana Khatun's bowling after scoring 38 in 34 balls.
Kaur continued the assault with Yastika Bhatia and finished the match with a boundary also getting past her 11th T20I fifty scoring 54* in 35 balls with six fours and 2 sixes. Sultana picked up figures of 2/25 and Marufa Akter bowled a solid spell of 3-1-18-1 but there were not enough runs on the board to restrict a strong India order.
