Match Details
Chasing a below-par total of 127, Juan Rusty Theron gave Seattle Orcas an early setback by outwitting Nauman Anwar 2(6) in the second over. Following the early departure of Anwar, Shehan Jayasuriya joined forces with Quinton de Kock and steadied the ship. Quinton brought out an array of alluring drives inside the powerplay and released some pressure. Jayasuriya, on the other hand, was playing the ball late and rotating the strike.
The left-handed duo of Quinton and Jayasuriya propelled the Orcas 38/1 at the end of the powerplay and dictated the play well in the middle overs. The Super Kings also strayed in lines and allowed Quinton to play with calculative aggression. The South African opener kept collecting boundaries at regular intervals and registered his half-century in the 11th over. The Super Kings were lethargic in the field and failed to capitalize on the opportunities presented. Quinton 88*(50) and Jayasuriya 31*(34) remained unscathed and notched up a magnificent 117-run partnership for the second wicket.
The Orcas’ bowlers slowed down the proceedings after dismissing both openers. Milind Kumar 5(10) and Cody Chetty 24(21) succumbed to pressure and holed out in the deep eventually as Super Kings were reduced to 63/4. The bowlers controlled the game beautifully and never allowed the Super Kings to have the whip hand in the contest. Daniel Sams kept pegging away and accumulated a valuable 26*(25) and gave bowlers something to uphold. Andrew Tye (3/32) mixed his pace well and was the most successful bowler for the Orcas. Stick around for the post-match presentation!
