A dominating batting performance from the Indian openers help them thrash West Indies in the fourth T20I and get the five-match series level at 2-2. We have the decider slated for tomorrow and we will be back giving you all the live updates. For now, it was the commentary panel of AkshayaKrishna Polya and Arijit Kundu, who, alongside our scorer/analyst Raju Khariya brought you all the live-action of this blockbuster. We will meet you again. Until then, it's cheers!
Hardik Pandya (India Captain): Absolutely [on feeling like home]. Yeah, I think there are more Indian, I have been seeing them for a while now. The way they are coming and supporting us.

Brilliant, as we have seen that there is no doubt in their skillset [on Jaiswal and Gill]. It was about they spent some time on the wicket, I was thinking that we have to take some responsibility and win you matches.

Bowlers are very important and they take wickets to make things easier. The way Jaiswal and Gill ran in this heat and did the job, made us feel easy to see.

Not really, I like to captain [on his tactics as a captain], how I see the game. How the game is possessing, and how it is going, I like to go with my instinct. In the first game, it was our error in chasing. We were going well, cruising but in the last four overs, and messed up in the end.

The boys took the stride and they were happy to take the step. All these games give us challenges. We have made mistakes in junctures that do not hurt much. It was time to pull up socks and do the job, and I think the boys have done it well.

In T20 cricket, there are no favorites [on asking if India was the favorites for the final T20I]. You need to respect the opposition. They were two-nil up because they played well earlier. The one who plays well on the day wins the game.
Rovman Powell (West Indies Captain): "Ah... I think this is a pretty good batting surface. We were around 10-15 runs short. Given that, Shimron Hetmyer and Shai Hope batted well. You know, we do have a quality bowlers on our side but it was high-quality batters whom we were up against. We didn't stick to our plans and felt the pressure of bowling to quality batters.

(On West Indies losing wickets at regular intervals) Always it comes down to spin, how we bat against their spinners. We lost wickets early to the pacers, and also to the spinners in the middle overs. Probably could have got some extra runs if we had improved the batting against wrist spin.

(Asking about his knee which took some harm during a dive on the field) Ahh... My knee has a strapping but it is alright as of now and good to go. Yeah, it's 2-2 as of now and tomorrow it's a final and I will back West Indies in the final (chuckles)."
Yashasvi Jaiswal (Player of the Match): "Of course, it is not easy. I am too happy to go out there and express myself.

I would like to thank Hardik bhai and all the support staff, the way they went and the way they spoke to me before the match.

Yeah, that was good. I think I try to play how the team needs, I try to think how quickly I can get the runs and how many shots I can get the shots inside the powerplay. And of course, reading the situation and to go along with it. But my aim is to score runs according to the situation.

Off course it helps, I have played them at the nets[on playing alongside Jason Holder, Obed McCoy in the IPL] and it helps me.

[On batting with Shubman Gill] It was pretty amazing to bat with him.[Shubman Gill] He was really batting well. It was pretty amazing to bat along with him and the shots that he was playing.

It was great to express myself to all the US supporters in this scorching heat. Thank you so much."

Highest Opening Partnerships for India in T20Is: Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal- 165 (Today)
Highest partnerships in T20Is for India:

Deepak Hooda and Sanju Samson - 176 vs IRE in Malahide, 2022
KL Rahul - Rohit Sharma- 165 vs SL in Indore, 2017
Shubman Gill - Yashasvi Jaiswal- 165 vs WI Lauderhill, 2023
11:20 PM IST, 13:50 Local Time: Extras will do nicely for India as they thump West Indies by 9 wickets with three overs remaining and get the five-match T20I series level at 2-2, getting it to the decider!

Arriving at the chase, Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill were on a mission and thrashed the Windies bowlers left, right and centre. Jaiswal and Gill added a record-breaking opening partnership of 165 runs in 15.3 overs. The duo recorded the highest opening stand against West Indies, breaking Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan’s 158 runs partnership for the first wicket back in 2021.

Both the youngsters had a stellar IPL season for their respective franchises and were batting like a dream, completing their respective maiden T20I half-centuries. However, Gill (77 off 47) was the lone success for West Indies with Romario Shepherd providing the first and last breakthrough for his side in the 16th over.

Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 84 off 51 balls with the new number three Tilak Varma (7* off 5), staying unbeaten in another successful run chase.

Earlier in the match, West Indies won the toss and opted to bat first. Kyle Mayers (17 off 7) and Brandon King (18 off 16) got into brisk starts but failed to go big, falling prey to Arshdeep Singh inside the Powerplay with the home side getting 55 runs in six overs. Kuldeep Yadav (2/26) came into the attack straightaway after the field restrictions and accounted for the dismissals of dangerous Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell all in one over, reducing West Indies to 57/4.

Shai Hope (45 off 29) was the spectator on the other end but was ticking the scoreboard with a good innings. Hope and Shimron Hetmyer added 49 runs for the fifth wicket and took the total past 100. Yuzvendra Chahal (1/36), after three expensive overs, came back well and broke the partnership with the wicket of Hope in the 13th over. A couple of quick wickets followed this dismissal, and West Indies were again on the back foot, with the scorecard reading 123/7. Mukesh Kumar (1/25) bowled a brilliant spell in the second half of the innings and also got Jason Holder knocked over.

Hetmyer played positively and batted brilliantly, scoring 61 runs off 39 balls, hitting 3 fours and 4 sixes. Hettie was there till the last over with a very good partnership of 44 runs along with Odean Smith for the 8th wicket. Though Hetmyer became the third victim of Arshdeep (3/38), Smith (15* off 12) smashed a big six in the final ball, finishing things off in style and helping West Indies to post 178/8 in 20 overs.

Stay tuned for the post-match presentations!
17.1 R Shepherd to T Varma
1wd Short of a length and outside the leg stump line. Varma tries to flip at it and gets beaten on the outside edge. The keeper fails to gather the ball neatly and the duo scurries for a bye. Wide has also been signaled from the Barbadian umpire and that will be it. India levels the tally in the series. It's 2-2 at the moment and Yashasvi Jaiswal remains unbridled at this chase and raises his bat after he does the job for his side. This is the highest successful chase in this ground.
So 2 runs needed to win. Should be a cakewalk for India now.
