That's all from our side as well. Karim Janat's last over hat-trick goes in vain as Bangladesh sealed the game by 2 wickets in the penultimate ball of the match. I hope you enjoyed this last-over thriller match. For now, this is Deepak Prakash signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Megh Mandaliya and scorers/analysts Paras Yadav and AkshayaKrishna Polya. CHEERS!
Deepak: Karim Janat is the second bowler to take a hat-trick of wickets for Afghanistan. Rashid Khan was the first one to do so against Ireland in the year 2019.
Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh Captain): "We knew all our tailenders could bat. Today, it was Shoriful Islam's chance to finish the game but Miraz could have finished the game when he had the opportunity. Yeah, it was funny at the backend but that's how T20 games go and that's what makes it more exciting for the crowd. Lucky to be on the winning side."
Towhid Hridoy (Player of the match): "We took some momentum when I and Shamim were batting, we just tried to rotate the strike and take it deep. These types of games give us lots of confidence and hopefully, it will be continued. I was a little bit nervous actually when I didn't get the strike in the last over, but I was confident to finish the match as a batsman."
Rashid Khan (Afghanistan Captain): "Yeah, I think the ground was very wet after the rain. It felt like our 50 percent strength was taken away from us. Overall, it was a great effort by the team. We had a good bowling unit but you know, one bad over in T20s takes the game away from you. We were also 20-25 runs short today with the bat. Yes, great to see the way Nabi played. He took some responsibility, took the game deep, and the way he played was amazing."
9:36 PM IST, 10:07 PM Local Time | That will do it for Bangladesh! Karim Janat's heroic hat-trick goes in vain as Shoriful Islam finishes the game with a boundary. The Sylhet crowd has erupted. In what was a rollercoaster of a game, the hosts have managed to overpower Afghanistan by just 2 wickets. They were reeling at 64/4 at one stage but a remarkable 73-run partnership between Towhid Hridoy and Shamim Hossain has helped Bangladesh go 1-0 in the two-match series despite a low-order collapse.

Chasing a challenging score of 155, Rony Talukdar opened his account with an alluring drive before Fazalhaq Farooqi cleaned up the right-hander with a magnificent nip-backer and gave an early setback to the hosts. Najmul Hossain Shanto and Litton Das revived the innings after the early departure of Talukdar 4(5) but their progress was halted by Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who had the woods over Shanto 14(12). The Afghan bowlers were disciplined inside the powerplay and only conceded 37 runs off the first 6 overs. Azmatullah Omarzai used the extra bounce to his advantage and got rid of Litton Das as the right-hander departed after a scratchy knock of 14(12).

Shakib Al Hasan released some pressure after a slight rain interruption and played deftly alongside Towhid Hridoy. However, just when a partnership was starting to build for the hosts, Shakib 19(17) holed out in the deep and levelled the contest again. Towhid Hridoy and Shamim Hossain kept pegging away and batted sensibly. The left-right duo swatted 21 runs off the 13th over and changed the entire complexion of the game. Both Hridoy 47*(32) and Hossain 33(25) stitched a crucial 73-run partnership for the 5th wicket before Bangladesh’s innings went haywire courtesy of a sensational Hat-Trick from Karim Janat in the last over. Shoriful Islam held his nerves and finished the game with a boundary eventually but the visitors almost pulled off a miraculous victory.

Earlier in the day, after being invited to bat first, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Hazratullah Zazai started the Afghanistan innings but just when they were starting to take the aggressive route, Nasum Ahmed broke the 16-run opening partnership as Zazai 8(10) holed out to square leg. Rahmanullah Gurbaz played a breezy knock of 16(11) before the right-hander threw his wicket. Shoriful Islam attained the third wicket of the powerplay by outwitting Ibrahim Zadran 8(6) for the fourth time in the tour. Tottering at 32/3, Mohammad Nabi went into a counterattacking mode and tried to stabilize the innings but the visitors kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

The changing point in the innings arrived when Azmatullah Omarzai joined forces with Nabi and forged a quick 56-run partnership for the 6th wicket. Omarzai was the primary aggressor in the partnership and aggregated an audacious 33(18), which included 4 maximums to his credit. Nabi also pushed the pedal at the right juncture and brought up his 5th half-century in T20Is. His 54*(40) helped Afghanistan to register a competitive total. Skipper Shakib Al Hasan was the most successful bowler for the home side and finished his stint with the figures of 2/27. Stick around for the post-match presentation!

19.5 K Janat to Islam
4 FOUR! There it is, Bangladesh win by 2 wickets. A loud roar in the crowd as the home side emerged as a victorious team. Short of length delivery width outside the off. Shoriful stays inside the crease and throws his bat at it. The ball beats the sweeper cover fielder and races away for a boundary.

This is simply unbelievable from Karim Janat. He picks up a Hat-Trick just when his team needed him to. Bangladesh needs 2 runs from 2 balls now. What a contest we are having!
19.4 K Janat to N Ahmed
W HAT-TRICK OF WICKETS FOR KARIM JANAT! What is happening here? Bangladesh are falling like a pack of cards. Another short of length delivery a shade outside the off, Nasum hoicks across the line of the ball and gets the top edge of the bat. The ball flies to the deep third man region where Malik takes a good catch.
Nasum Ahmed walks out to bat at number 9.
Karim Janat, you beauty! He suddenly finds himself on a Hat-trick now! Taskin Ahmed goes for the glory now and he also perishes.
