So, that's a wrap from this encounter of the Tamil Nadu Premier League 2023. The Lyca Kovai Kings sit at the top of the table and Madurai Panthers are yet to seal a spot in the playoffs.

That's it. Arijit Kundu, this side, signing off alongside co-commentator, Amit Das and scorer, Raju Khariya. Adios and stay tuned to all other cricketing actions in the network.
Shahrukh Khan (Lyca Kovai Kings Captain): "Well the circumstances were such. Sai was gone and I needed to step up. In the other matches, I had to give them the game time. Now it was my turn to come there. A mis-hit off my bat can also clear the ropes. I just cannot think about the wind and others.

Yeah, everybody has stepped up. It feels good when all your batters steps up with the bat, And with no Sai being around it gets better to see such.

It's not just the last two years, I have been working on my bowling since the last 3-4 years. When batting does not go good, you can contribute with the ball. I think it was all my instinct. I think I was lucky to get hold of the ball [on the catch of Hari Nishaanth's dismissal]."

Time for the Post-match presentation...
Valliappan Yudheeswaran:"Thank you very much. I know it's a cliche but we just focusing on the process. Yes absolutely, we are enjoying each other's success. When we the teammates do well, it helps us a lot Hopefully, we be able to do it more. Obviously, we qualified for the top twp, the probability was high because of the net run rate. But we thought not to be too complacent."

6:44 PM IST | Another victory for the Lyca Kovai Kings and they strengthen their position for the top two spots in the playoffs of 2023 Tamil Nadu Premier League. It has been a superb display of three-dimensional skills and they ensure a difference of 44 runs with the Siechem Madurai Panthers.

It was a surprise for many as Washington Sundar came out to open the batting alongside Suresh Lokeshwar. The all-rounder played some elegant strokes but eventually was outwitted by impact player, K Gowtham Thamarai Kannan at the end of the third over.

Meanwhile, Lokeshwar put up some assault inside the powerplay and helped the Madurai Panthers reach 61 inside the powerplay. He was run out inside the first half of the innings and perhaps could be called a brain-fade moment.

J Kousik played some flamboyant strokes but ultimately was dismissed by Shahrukh Khan. The middle and lower-middle order failed to notch up runs and convert the starts. C Hari Nishaanth showed some spark but could only get 33 runs before Manimaran Siddharth got the better of him. It also collaborated with a fantastic catch from Shahrukh who plucked with one hand. Eventually, with the passage of time the bowling unit of Kovai Kings folded up Madurai for 164.

The chase of 200+ total seemed to have been too much mounted on the chasing side and therefore they faltered with minimization of balls left. Siddharth was the peak of the bowlers with three-fer, followed by two wickets each for Shahrukh Khan and Valliappan Yudheeswaran.

The Lyca Kovai Kings got past the 200 runs mark inside 20 overs on the back of J Suresh Kumar’s 64, B Sachin’s 67, and Shahrukh Khan’s 53.

Despite losing a wicket early, Suresh and Sachin denied the bowling attack of Madurai for some time. The right and left-handed combination helped them secure an 85-run second wicket stand. Suresh ticked up runs quickly while Sachin who was filling the shoe of B Sai Sudharsan took his time and grafted the innings.

Two wickets followed after the 8th over as Swapnil Singh struck two blows. It was followed by a counter-attack from Shahrukh Khan who promoted himself up the order. He hammered the bowlers in and out of the park and scored up some runs in rapid fashion. He brought up his half-century in 20 balls which transpired to be the fastest ever in TNPL 2023. An 83-run partnership for the fourth wicket was stitched up and therefore it helped the Kovai Kings score 208-5 at the end of 20 overs.

Stay tuned for the post-match presentation.
