The wicket was good and credit to our bowlers for the way they bowled in the first innings. Gurjapneet was in great rhythm tonight and he bowled hard-length deliveries in the powerplay which helped him. We have a well-balanced unit and hopefully, we will carry forward this momentum."
Abhishek Tanwar (Salem Spartans Skipper): "I thought we were reckless while batting and it cost us the game. We were not good with both bat and ball. We lost wickets in clusters and it didn't help us."

10:06 PM IST: A solid all-around effort from the Siechem Madurai Panthers sees them beat the Salem Spartans by seven wickets with seven overs to spare. The Panthers register their first win of Tamil Nadu Premier League 2023. The Spartans were completely outplayed tonight as they suffer their second straight loss of the competition.
Chasing a modest total of 99, the Panthers lost their openers inside the powerplay. Jagatheesan Kousik looked solid at the crease and steadied the ship along with S Sri Abisek. They were 49/2 at the end of the powerplay as they made full use of the fielding restrictions. Kousik played good shots before getting knocked over 21 in the eighth over.
Swapnil Singh joined Abisek and both kept the Spartans at bay. Both kept finding boundaries at regular intervals and made sure that there were no more hiccups in the chase. Abisek and Singh remained unbeaten on 32 and 25 respectively as they took their side across the line in 13 overs with seven wickets in hand.
Earlier, the Panthers decided to bowl first and got off to a wonderful start. Their bowlers bowled brilliantly and ran through the Spartans’ batting order as they reduced them to 23/4 at the end of the powerplay. Amith Sathvik tried hard but was cleaned up on 17. Gowri Shankar J (17) and Sunny Sandhu put 27 between them before the latter fell in the 16th over.
Skipper Abhishek Tanwar walked out to bat at nine and hit two sixes and as many sixes to play a good cameo to take his side close to 100. Tanwar fell on 29 off 18 balls in the last over as the Spartans got bundled out on 98. Gurjapneet Singh bowled brilliantly for the Panthers and finished with figures of 3/15 in his quota of four overs. V Gowtham and Murugan Ashwin also grabbed two wickets each as they completed a fantastic performance with the ball before their batters chased down the total comfortably.
