Shahrukh Khan (Lyca Kovai Kings Skipper):"The toss played a crucial role tonight as the wicket got better to bat in the second innings. It was a bit sticky in the first innings. Yudheeswaran has improved a lot in the last three years and to see Suresh Kumar bat the way he batted tonight was outstanding."
Narayan Jagadeesan (Chepauk Super Gillies Skipper):"The ball seamed a bit at the start of the match. We could have shown better intent tonight because you have to be aggressive in a T20 game. I feel we were 40-45 runs short with the bat tonight."
Valliappan Yudheeswaran (Player of the Match):"I had a simple plan of bowling dot balls. I want to dedicate this award to my mom and dad."
Player of the Match: Valliappan Yudheeswaran
10:38 PM IST: A solid all-around effort from the Lyca Kovai Kings see them thump the Chepauk Super Gillies. The bowlers set up things nicely for them as they restricted the Super Gillies to 126/8 before Sai Sudharsan played a brilliant knock of 64* to guide his side across the line with eight wickets in hand. The Super Gillies were outplayed tonight and will hope to bounce back in their next fixture.
Chasing 127, the Kings had a very good start, thanks to J Suresh Kumar and Sachin B. Both played some good shots up front. Sachin fell on 14 as they scored 44 at the end of the powerplay. Sai Sudharsan joined Kumar and both kept the Super Gillies at bay. They played some fantastic shots and kept the required run rate under control.
Kumar and Sudharsan put 65 between them before the former fell three short of his half-century. Sudharsan kept finding regular boundaries and brought up his fifty. He hit nine fours and a six to remain unbeaten on 64 off 43 balls to take the Kings across the line in 16.3 overs. The Super Gillies managed to pick only two wickets as they suffered a heavy loss against the Kings.
Lyca Kovai Kings skipper Shahrukh Khan won the toss and opted to bowl first. They had a very good start as they picked up two quick wickets and reduced the Super Gillies to 31/2 at the end of the powerplay. They bowled nicely in the middle phase and kept picking wickets at regular intervals. Uthirasamy Sasidev joined hands with S Harish Kumar and steadied the ship for the Super Gillies.
Sasidev played the role of a second fiddle perfectly as Kumar at the other end played aggressively. Both put 41 between them for the sixth wicket before Kumar fell on a 20-ball 32. He smashed one boundary and three sixes. Sasidev fell on 23 and Ramalingam Rohit played a cameo of 13* to help his side post 126 on the board. V Yudheeswaran bowled beautifully for the Kings and picked up three wickets, giving away 29 runs in his four overs. Stick around for the post-match presentation.
16.3 Arul to Sudharsan
4 FOUR!!! Sudharsan finishes things in style. Arul bowls a slower delivery outside off, Sudharsan charges down the track and thrashes it over covers for a blazing boundary. With this, the Lyca Kovai Kings beat the Chepauk Super Gillies by eight wickets.
16.2 Arul to Arvindh
1 Good length delivery on the stumps and Arvindh pushes it in the mid on region for a run.
16.1 Arul to Sudharsan
1 Arul starts with a fuller delivery on the pads and Sudharsan flicks it to deep mid wicket for a single.
