That's it from all of us for this game. Do join us tomorrow for the second game of TNPL 2023. For now, this is Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentator Deepak Prakash and scorer Raju Khariya. Tata. Bye Bye.
Shahrukh Khan (Lyca Kovai Kings Captain): "We had the same players last year and we just have to follow the process. Me and Sai will score runs and the other batters just have to step up. The wicket wasn't easy to bat on and the credit must go to Sai and Mukilesh for the way they batted. The decision to use the impact player was taken because we needed a left-hander to take on their left-arm spinners.

I try to spin the ball and that's what has been working for me since last year. I just have to bowl more as I have been bowling well. The plan was to ask Vivek to hit to the longer side and it worked. Happy with the performance tonight."
Sai Kishore (iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans Captain): "We conceded too many runs during the middle overs, although Sai Sudharsan's performance was commendable. Considering the nature of the pitch, we ended up with 10 runs more than necessary. When you have two players of similar caliber, it becomes necessary to alter the batting order. We have approximately 5-6 first-class players, and I believe that today's underwhelming performance was an isolated incident. It serves as a valuable learning experience for us."

Sai Sudharsan (Player of the Match): "Really happy with the performance. Always good when you contribute to the team. The plan was to take the game deep along with Mukilesh. I was trying to keep the strike for the last over to clear the fence and it worked out tonight."
Player of the Match: Sai Sudharsan
10:48 PM IST: That’s it. A solid all-around performance from the Lyca Kovai Kings sees them defeat the iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans by 70 runs. With this comprehensive win, the Kings have started their title defence on a winning note. The Tamizhans were completely outplayed tonight and will be disappointed with this massive loss.

Chasing a stiff target of 180, the Tamizhans got off to a worst possible start as NS Chaturved fell on four in the very first over. Tushar Raheja and K Vishal Vaidhya looked good at the crease but the latter departed on 16 in the last over of the powerplay. There was a collapse right after the powerplay as none of the middle-order batters got going. The Tamizhans were reeling at 64/7 at the halfway stage of their innings.

Raheja stood tall against the Kings but he lacked support from the other end. He provided some resistance but was run out on 33 in the 13th over. The Kings then wrapped up the tail to knock over the Tamizhans on 109 to win the game by 70 runs. Shahrukh picked up three wickets for the Kings as they completed a dominant performance with the ball.

Earlier, iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans skipper Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore won the toss and opted to bowl first. They had a fantastic start with the ball as Bhuvaneswaran trapped J Suresh Kumar on 11 in the second over. Vijay Shankar picked up two wickets in the third over to peg back the Lyca Kovai Kings as they were 42/3 at the end of the powerplay. B Sai Sudharsan was joined by U Mukilesh and both started rebuilding the innings.

Sudharsan looked good at the crease and played some brilliant shots. He along with Mukilesh kept ticking the scoreboard in the middle overs and kept the Tamizhans at bay. The 84-run stand came to an end when Mukilesh fell on 33. There was no stopping Sudharsan at the other end as he brought up his fifty and teed off in the end. He hit some lusty blows to score 86 off 45 balls to power his side to 179/7 at the end of their 20 overs. Shankar and Sai Kishore picked up three and two wickets respectively for the Tamizhans. Their batters then disappointed as they lost the game by a big margin.

W CAUGHT!! That's it, a comprehensive victory for Lyca Kovai Kings. They thumped  iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans by 70 runs to start their campaign on a high note!!
