And with that, The Ford Trophy 2022-23 comes to a close, marking the end of another thrilling ODI domestic cricket season in New Zealand. Congratulations to the Central Stags on their well-deserved victory.

That's all from our side as well. I hope you enjoyed our coverage and Josh Clarkson's show. For now, this is Deepak Prakash signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Prince Suman along with scores, Yogesh Kumar, and Ghanendra Thakur who brought all the live action of this Grand Finale. We will meet again till then goodbye and CHEERS! ✌✌
Here we go, Central Stags receives their winning trophy and they can start their celebration now as they are the winner of the 52nd Ford Trophy.
Central Stags were off to a shaky start in their chase of Canterbury's total of 212 runs. Losing Ben Smith early in the innings for just 3 runs was definitely not what they were hoping for. Jack Boyle was playing cautiously, trying to hold the innings together, but his concentration lapsed in the last over of the first powerplay, and he departed for 18 runs off 35 balls. Central Stags needed a strong partnership to steady the ship, but unfortunately, their middle-order batters were not up to the task, losing two wickets in the 17th over. Brad Schmulian, who had batted cautiously for 38 balls, threw his wicket away on a nothing delivery, followed by the wicket of Dane Cleaver, leaving Central Stags in a spot of bother at 49/4 in the 17th over.

Central Stags were in a precarious position, losing wickets in quick succession and reeling at 49/4 in the 17th over. But then came the heroics of Josh Clarkson and skipper Tom Bruce, who stitched a match-winning partnership. Clarkson took on the responsibility of the aggressor, and with some phenomenal strokeplay, he put the pressure back on the Canterbury bowlers. The right-handed batsman notched up his maiden domestic century in style, playing a fantastic knock of 111 runs, which included 17 boundaries and two sixes.

On the other hand, skipper Tom Bruce played sensible innings and supported Clarkson well. He kept the scoreboard ticking and rotated the strike with his partner, providing the much-needed stability to the innings. Bruce brought up his half-century with a boundary and finished the game unbeaten with a score of 51 runs.

The duo remained unbeaten till the end, and their match-winning partnership of 167 runs turned the tide of the game in Central Stags' favor. They chased down the target of 212 runs with ease, winning the match by 6 wickets and with 39 balls to spare. It was a remarkable victory for Central Stags, and the team would be proud of their performance, especially Clarkson and Bruce's unbeaten partnership.

From the bowling front, the Kings were excellent with the new ball as they extracted four quick wickets but toiled hard to break Josh Clarkson and Bruce's partnership. Sean Davey and William ORourke were the bowlers who shared a couple of wickets each for the Kings and the rest all went wicketless.
Let's have a brief recap of this Grand Finale.  Earlier in the morning, Canterbury won the toss and opted to bat first. The Canterbury openers started cautiously, building a decent partnership at the beginning of the innings. However, they failed to capitalize on the start they got, and Rhys Mariu was the first to depart after scoring 24 runs and putting on a 35-run stand for the first wicket.

After the loss of Rhys Mariu, Canterbury faced a mini-collapse in the middle overs, losing wickets at regular intervals and were reeling at 107/5. The situation called for a solid partnership to put Canterbury back on track, and in came skipper Cole McConchie. McConchie took the responsibility on his shoulders and paired up with Angus McKenzie. Everything was going according to plan, but Josh Clarkson had a different idea. The right-arm speedster trapped McKenzie on 30 runs and put an end to the 61-run partnership between the two batsmen.

Despite the setback, McConchie continued to play sensibly and went on to complete his half-century. However, he failed to convert it into a big score and departed for 54 runs. The lower-order batters added some crucial runs in the end and helped Canterbury past the 200-run mark. They ended their innings at 212/9 at the end of 50 overs.

From the bowling front, Jayden Lennox and Josh Clarkson were the standout performers for Central Stags, both extracting three wickets each. Doug Bracewell and Ajaz Patel also chipped in with a wicket each to contribute to Canterbury's downfall.
