That brings an end to our coverage for this game. Hope you enjoyed our coverage. Do join us for more cricketing action all around the globe. For now, this is Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentator Saipavan Janaki and scorer Zeeshan Naiyer. Tata. Bye Bye.
Nicola Carey (Spirit Women Captain): "Everyone struck early and it was a good effort from us to get to 120 mark. Ayabonga was brilliant and happy with the overall performance. I wasn't hitting the ball well early in my innings. The small boundaries help us and we back ourselves to clear the fence. I love playing the reverse sweep but she got me in the end. Just keep going is my message to the girls. Really happy to finish on the winning side today."
Sana Mir  (Sapphires Women Captain): "I think we bowled and fielded really well and really happy for the and it was the chasable target but  Khaka bowled really well. Brunt was there when 9-10 runs over and the ultimate over from Khaka that 2 wickets changed the game. I back the players well"
Ayabonga Khaka (Player of the Match): "I think I bowled well in patches but happy to finish on the winning side. It was a great wicket to bowl on. The ball was sticking a bit and we bowlers love bowling here. Another game tomorrow and will be raring to go"
Player of the Match: Ayabonga Khaka
Time for the post-match presentation.
10:34 AM IST: That’s it. Spirit Women hold their nerves and beat the Sapphires Women by 12 runs to grab two points and move up the table. With this win, they stay unbeaten in the competition. Katherine Sciver-Brunt tried hard for the Sapphires Women but her knock wasn’t enough as they suffer their second loss of the tournament.

Chasing 122, the Sapphires Women got off to a shaky start. They lost Gaby Lewis on one in the second over. They lost Babette de Leede and Erin Burns on zero and five respectively as they reeled at 16/3 at the end of the powerplay. Sibona Jimmy and Katie Mack tried to resurrect the innings as the Spirit’s bowlers bowled brilliantly and kept a lid on the scoring rate.

Jimmy fell on 13 in the tenth over and Mack’s struggles came to an end in the same over when she was run out on 9 off 23 balls. Katerine Sciver-Brunt came out all guns blazing and hit a couple of boundaries to shift the momentum back towards the Sapphires. She played an outstanding knock and was well-supported by Aditi Chudasama from the other end.

The Spirit Women bowled well in the last phase of the match and cut out the boundaries. Sciver-Brunt and Chudasama put 56 between them before Chudasama was stumped. Ayabonga Khaka bowled a brilliant penultimate over and picked up two wickets, which included the big wicket of Sciver-Brunt. Sciver-Brunt fell on a 29-ball 47 as her knock wasn’t enough for the Sapphires Women as they lost the game by 12 runs. Khaka was the standout bowler for Spirit as she finished with figures of 4/13 in her four overs, which included a maiden.

Earlier, Sapphires’ skipper Sana Mir won the toss and opted to bowl first. They had a fantastic start as they didn’t allow the Spirit Women to get away in the powerplay. Geetika Kodali picked up two wickets upfront as they reduced the Spirit Women to 21/2 at the end of the fielding restrictions. Skipper Nicola Carey walked out to bat and steadied the ship for Spirit Women.

Carey was going nicely from one end but lacked support from the other as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. There was no stopping Carey as she played some fantastic shots and kept finding regular boundaries. She kept the scoreboard ticking and brought up her fifty in no time. She departed on 52 while trying to up the ante. Mahika Gaur hit (18) some lusty blows in the end to help her side post 121 on the board. The Sapphires Women picked up eight wickets in total, with Kodali, Katherine Sciver-Brunt and Sana Mir finishing with two each.

Stick around for the post-match presentation.
