01:49 AM IST, 09:19 PM Local Time: That’s it. A solid performance from Derbyshire sees them defeat Northamptonshire by six wickets. The hosts tried hard and took the game to the last over but Derbyshire’s skipper Leus du Plooy held his nerves and took his side across the line with five balls to spare.
Chasing 157, Derbyshire didn’t have the best of starts as they lost Luis Reece (5) and Haider Ali (14) inside the powerplay. Harry Came along with Wayne Madsen led the recovery work as both started building a partnership for the visitors. They played some wonderful strokes and kept scoring at a brisk rate. They put 68 between them before Madsen was cleaned up on 35.
Came struggled for timing in the second half of his innings and departed on a 40-ball 43 in the 16th over. Skipper Leus du Plooy came out all guns blazing and kept Derbyshire in the hunt despite the required run rate creeping up. He hit some lusty blows and remained unbeaten on 40 off 23 balls to guide his side across the line with five balls to spare. David Willey for Northamptonshire grabbed two wickets but it wasn’t enough as they were unsuccessful in defending the total.
Northamptonshire batted first and lost Ricardo Vasconcelos in the very first over. Emilio Gay was joined by Chris Lynn who started aggressively. He hit 33 off 23 balls before falling right after the powerplay. Derbyshire bowled beautifully and kept picking wickets at regular intervals. Gay scored 47 before getting knocked over in the 14th over.
Saif Zaib played a good cameo of 25 off 16 balls while batting at six but Derbyshire bowled brilliantly in the death overs and denied Northamptonshire a strong finish as they ended their innings on 156/8. Zaman Khan starred with the ball as he picked up three wickets, giving away 26 runs in his four overs. Alex Thomson and George Scrimshaw also chipped in with a couple of scalps each.

4wd WIDE AND FOUR!!! WINNING RUNS!! Fuller length delivery, sliding down the leg side, Plooy shuffles across and tries to flick but misses it. The keeper also failed to grab that, and the ball races away for four runs on the fine leg region. Derbyshire win this game by 6 wickets.
