2:04 AM IST | Deepak: A humiliating defeat for Essex Eagles, as they are thumped by Hampshire Hawks by a margin of 116 runs. This is the first defeat for the Eagles in their three outings this season.

In a breathtaking display of batting prowess, Hampshire got off to a flying start after being invited to bat first. With sheer determination and an aggressive mindset, they built an imposing total of 214 runs in just 20 overs. Leading the charge was the explosive James Vince, who unleashed his inner fury on the opposing bowlers, showcasing a masterclass innings that culminated in a sensational century. While the Hawks' bowling unit put up a valiant effort, it was Daniel Sams and Simon Harmer who stood out with their exceptional performances. Both bowlers exhibited their skill and precision, managing to claim three wickets each. However, Harmer, despite his success, was a touch expensive during his spell.

In pursuit of the Hawksโ€™ 214 runs, the Eagles made a promising start, with Adam Rossington showcasing his aggressive intent right from the first over. Rossington's rapid scoring injected momentum into the innings. However, his progress was abruptly halted by a well-executed delivery from Scott Currie, resulting in a caught-behind dismissal and giving the Hawks their first breakthrough.

Following Rossington's dismissal, the Eagles faced further setbacks as they lost a couple more wickets, leaving them in a precarious position at 53/3 by the 7th over. Eagles batters played casual shots in the middle and lost wickets like a pack of cards as they were bundled out for a mere 96 runs.

From the bowling front, Liam Dawson bagged 4 wickets for the Hawks and gave away just 21 runs. Nathan Ellis and Scott Currie chipped in with 3 and 2 wickets respectively, while James Fuller contributed one wicket to the Eagles' downfall.
14.1 N Ellis to D Sams
W IN THE AIR AND CAUGHT! That will do it for Hampshire Hawks. A convincing victory for the defending champions. Good length delivery outside off, Sams looks to hoick that across the line but gets the top edge that balloons up in the air. Vince stationed at extra covers settles underneath that and takes a good catch. Hampshire Hawks have defeated Essex Eagles by a whopping 118 runs.
