1:45 AM IST: The Chris Lynn show was on display as the Northamptonshire cruise towards a home victory winning by 8 wickets against the Leicestershire Foxes in a T20 Blast encounter. Lynn scored an unbeaten 110 in 68 balls with the help of 13 fours and 5 huge sixes opening the batting and also scoring the winning runs with 7 balls to spare.
The openers Emilio Gay and Lynn added 39 runs for the first wicket in no time but Naseem Shah put the party to end sending Gay back in the hut in the 5th over. Lynn then ambled around with skipper David Willey (20) to add 81 runs for the 2nd wicket.
The partnership stabilized the Steelbacks innings and put the Foxes under pressure as they did not have enough runs on the board. The only good sign was Naveen-ul-Haq as the Afghan prodigy performed both with bat and ball.
After scoring a quickfire unbeaten 25 in the first innings, Naveen bowled a good spell of 1/26 comprising of 12 dot balls, second most in the innings after Naseem's effort of 14 who finished with 1/20. All the other bowlers were taken to the cleaners as it was a Lynn masterclass hammering the bowlers to all parts of the ground.
Leicestershire are yet to win a game and are placed at the bottom of the North Group points table. Leicestershire's quarter final dreams are almost broken. Northamptonshire still have a chance to qualify as they won their 2nd game of the season moving up in the table.
The Steelbacks will play their next fixture against Worcestershire and the Foxes will look to open their account against Durham in the next fixture.
