Another last-ball finish in the IPL and another Sunrisers Hyderabad choke it was. They only can see the heavens and ask how? But nothing to take away from Nitish Rana and Co. as they held their nerves to steal this match from SRH.

For now, it is me AkshayaKrishna Polya signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Ninaad Dixit and Akshay Bhide, who, alongside our scorer/analyst Paras Yadav brought you all the live-action of this thriller. We will meet again. Until then, it's cheers!
Varun Chakravarthy: "Yeah, my heartbeat was touching 200. I am fine now. But I wanted to challenge them to the longer end. The ball was slipping from my hand and my best bet was the longer side. My first over went for 12 runs, Markram hit me for two fours and that is how the game goes. Nothing like that. Sometimes I tend to go through the emotions and that's why I go off-track. Last year I was bowling at 85 kmph and now it is coming off nicely. Last year I was trying too many deliveries and wasn't at my best. I went back tried to get better and realized that I need to work on the revolutions. I am feeling good now."
Player of the Match: Varun Chakravarthy
Nitish Rana (Kolkata Knight Riders Captain): "We bowled few balls which were not according to the plan and we were moving away from the game. I gambled twice with Shardul, Vaibhav and the way they dimissed Aiden Markram and Klaasen, that's when we were back in the game.

Both were important wickets. The required rate was not much so if any one of them would have batted till the end, then the result would have been in their favor.

I was thinking of giving Shardul the last over but actually I went to take some advice from him as I was having a doubt whether to bowl a fast bowler or a spinner. Then I backed my best bowler and he got me the 2 points.

I try to give the best bowler the tough overs on a particular day whether it is Sunil, Suyash or Varun."

Electric Striker of the Match: Heinrich Klaasen
11:36 PM IST: Time for the post-match presentation.
Shardul Thakur (Kolkata Knight Riders): "That's what is expected from me (On picking Klaasen's wicket in a crunch situation). The stage was set for me to pick up a wicket and it allowed us to get back in the game. Captain had a feeling whether he should bowl Varun in the last over. I just had to give confidence to him. I told him to go with the gut feeling. The ball was sticking and if you bowl the right areas, you would get rewards. It was difficult for us with injuries but this win was important for us. On this pitch, I tried to bowl a fast cutter and if he miscues it, I can get his wicket. The ball was stopping a bit when I was batting and the idea was to use off-pace deliveries."
Aiden Markram (Sunrisers Hyderabad Skipper): "We played good cricket for a large portion of the game but got it wrong in a crunch situation and ended on the losing side. Klaasen played really well and I struggled a bit. He took the pressure off me and it allowed me to find my feet. The bowlers did a fine job. It was good to see guys throwing themselves on the field. It's a tough one. You can get it wrong while trying to be aggressive. But you can learn from it. We will keep backing the guys. Hopefully, this situation will bring out the best of us. Losing two games is not ideal tonight but have to win four out of four now."
Earlier in the game, Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and opted to bat first. Jason Roy and Rahmanullah Gurbaz opened the innings for the visitors. Marco Jansen provided the home side with a perfect start as he picked up the wickets of Gurbaz and Venkatesh Iyer in the second over of the match. Roy also lost his wicket after stroking a few boundaries as Kartik Tyagi, returning to the XI, scalped the wicket.

KKR were struggling at 35/3 at one stage, and Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh gave the innings some impetus with a fourth-wicket partnership of 61 runs. Captain Markram dismissed Captain Rana (42 off 31) as the former took a stunning catch off his own bowling in the 12th over. Andre Russell (24 off 15) smashed a couple of sixes but couldn’t give the team much as Mayank Markande sent him back to the pavilion.

Rinku (46 off 35) almost stayed till the end, but he lost his wicket in the final over bowled by T Natarajan. Before the dismissal, KKR lost the wickets of Sunil Narine and Shardul Thakur cheaply. Anukul Roy came in as an impact player and was unbeaten at 13 off 7 balls, propelling the team’s score to 171/9.

Bowling-wise, all of the SRH bowlers picked wickets. While Natarajan and Marco Jansen got two wickets, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mayank Markande, Kartik Tyagi and Aiden Markram picked up a wicket each.
11:21 PM IST | Plenty of drama and a last-ball finish! And somehow, someway, Sunrisers Hyderabad lost this match after were well in control of the run-chase with Markram and Klaasen scoring so freely. They needed 38 in the final 5 overs and KKR made a great comeback to keep the nerves and win the match by a margin of five runs!!!

Chasing a competitive total of 172, SRH lost their way, losing 4 wickets for a score of 54 inside 7 overs. While Mayank Agarwal was the first one to go, Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi threw away their wickets after getting to a quick start. Harry Brook failed yet again and was trapped infront by Anukul Roy for a duck. Harshit Rana bowled a magnificent spell in the powerplay and bounced out Agarwal. While Shardul Thakur scalped the wicket of Sharma, Andre Russell had the last laugh over high-flying Tripathi.

Then Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen stitched together an important partnership and brought SRH back into the game. The 5th wicket partnership was worth 70 runs and Klaasen was the aggressor in it. Shardul Thakur's golden arm worked wonders for KKR as he dismissed the dangerous-looking Klaasen (36 off 20) in the 15th over.

SRH needed 38 in 30 balls and with Markram and Abdul Samad in the crease, it was their match. But KKR bowlers bowled terrifically and fought hard, making it difficult for both the hitters. Markram (41 off 40) played a nothing shot and lost his wicket at a crucial juncture giving the opposition a chance.

Amidst the rain falling, it came down to 21 off 12 balls. Vaibhav Arora bowled the 19th over and bowled wayward and making the game interesting. Despite that Arora gave away 12 runs, he picked the priced scalp of Marco Jansen.

Nitish Rana handed the final over to Varun Chakravarthy (4-0-20-1), who defended 9 runs off it and sent the finisher Samad (21 off 18) back to the pavilion. While Samad holed out in the third ball, Bhuvi and Markande failed to smack a big hit as KKR stole the match from the home side's grasp!

0 107.8kph. The quicker one keeps the nerve!! Bowls it short and outside the leg stump inviting Bhuvneshwar to slog in the leg side. He goes for the pull but is very slow in moving his arms. The ball passes well before he got his bat swing in line. KKR have grabbed a rabbit off their hat to win this game on the very last ball! Hats off to Varun Chakravarthy!!
6 runs required from 1 ball. Can Bhuvi clear the fence and take SRH home?

All the fielders in the leg side are out on the boundary. Gurbaz is standing a few yards behind the stumps.
19.5 V Chakravarthy to M Markande
1 96.3kph. Full, flighted and on the middle stump. Brave delivery from Varun. Markande clears the front leg, gets down on a knee and lofts it down the ground.... the ball lands well short of long on, the batters just get a single.
