That's it from a rain hit encounter in the Indian Premier League. Ninaad Dixit here signing off on behalf of my co-commentator AkshayaKrishna Polya and scorer Paras Yadav. Stay tuned for more cricketing action around the world.
Josh Little (Player of the Match): "I talked to Hardik before the game and was trying to keep it as simple as possible on this wicket and hitting a hard length as consistently as I could so thankfully I could do that today.

First game of the season there are always gonna be nerves especially first game in the IPL but I have settled in nicely now and felt in good rhythm today."
Player of the Match: Joshua Little
Hardik Pandya (Gujarat Titans Captain): "After a long time I saw that the bowling team was bowling well and someone from the opposition was playing with conviction. They pulled it back squeezing those over. I would have taken 180 on any given day on this pitch.

Somewhere down the line, in a group we know that to win the game. No matter the situation, we have to play good cricket and that humbleness is helping us to win games from difficult situations because every time I see people want to contribute they want to face and come out of it.

He is a fitter Vijay Shankar more confident. The amount of hard work he has done is terrific. At one point of time it was looking it will go to the last over as well but the way he hit few hits, it just changed it and coming forward you will see lot of Vijay Shankar innings like this. I believe in life good guys go good places and he is one of them."
Active catch of the match: Mohit Sharma (to dismiss Shardul Thakur)
Most fours of the match: Shubman Gill
Most valuable asset of the match: Rahmanullah Gurbaz
Game-changer of the match: Rahmanullah Gurbaz
Electric striker of the match: Vijay Shankar.

David Miller (Gujarat Titans): "Thank you very much. The guys set up a great platform there. Chasing a game can get a little heroizing. But I think someone like Vijay was on the going. It was nice to be on the opposite side, watching the ball sail over the ropes.

I think, the cliche things of sticking to the processes. The guys have been bowling well upfront, the spinners have been doing well. When it comes to our batting, we were not getting blown away. Someone was there always. If you keep winning a game, the confidence gets better.

We knew that they had really good spinners and sometimes we needed to go after them. We knew that the batters behind us can really play. We got Rahul Rashid and others. When it's in your area you just need to back your way to go for the big one.

Yeah, really nice to see him [Joshua Little] bowling the way he is. It's a great thing to have a left-arm pacer. He is adding a lot to the team. Bowl stumps to stump and does simple things well. I hope he gets to continue his form the way he is doing.

I feel its a dream come true. You can often play the game and move here to another. It's spectacular to play the game in front of this huge crowd and its a privilege to watch Vijay smack it away."
Nitish Rana (Kolkata Knight Riders Captain): "I think, we were 20-25 runs less. And if we lose these kinda catches in crucial moments, this will be the impact. And yes, there were no partnerships in the middle. Barring Dre Russ and Gurbaz no one really went along with the bat. The plan was to take early wickets where we failed. Although in between we grabbed momentum but I feel if we don't do the fielding well, we are going to lose matches this way.

I think, all the games. If we do good in all three departments, there are chances. Batting still we did well but if we don't perform in bowling and fielding, things won't go in our favor.

I feel the small moments are very important. A crucial catch or the plans you chose against a particular opponent, if you can nail it, the chances are better for a win."
7:45 PM IST: Gujarat Titans move to the top of the points table getting their 6th win of the season as they defeat the Kolkata Knight Riders by 7 wickets at the Eden Gardens. KKR put up 179/7 on the back of a half century from Rahmanullah Gurbaz and late-order hitting from Andre Russell but the GT batting attack was too good for the spin-heavy KKR lineup.

The openers, local boy Wriddhiman Saha and impact player Shubman Gill boosted the chase adding 41 runs in just 4 overs but Andre Russell opening the bowling got the better of Saha in the fifth. Gill was confident against his former franchise and clubbed 50 runs with Hardik Pandya (26) for the 2nd wicket.

Harshit Rana making his comeback in the IPL in place of Umesh Yadav today picked Pandya as his only scalp. Shubman Gill was out next against his former KKR teammate Sunil Narine (1/24). Andre Russell almost picked up another wicket in form of David Miller but the chance was spilled by Suyash Sharma.

The KKR bowlers were helpless against Killer Miller (32* off 18) and Vijay Shankar (51* off 24) as the duo added an unbeaten 87 runs to take GT home with 13 deliveries to spare. Shankar was outstanding starting slow and then playing all the shots in the books to hit 5 sixes and 2 fours. Miller also clubbed the spinners for 2 sixes in his show.

Earlier a three-wicket haul from Mohammed Shami and tidy bowling from all the bowlers especially Noor Ahmad and Josh Little kept KKR to a below-par score of 179 as nobody besides Russell and Gurbaz at the top could go big and score those runs in a rain-hit encounter.

Stay tuned as we bring you the post-match festivities.

WD Wide down the leg side! Full in length. Gujarat Titans seal the win by 7 wickets!! That's a revenge for the loss previously against the Kolkata Knight Riders. An anti-climatic end to the story.
And that's a fifty for Vijay Shankar. What a way to bring it on!! Half-century off just 24 deliveries. 1 more run to win.
17.5 N Rana to V Shankar
6 HALF CENTURY FOR VIJAY SHANKAR!! What a great attacking knock this has been!! Full length delivery angled across and pitching outside the leg stump. He sits on a knee and plays a beautiful wristy slog sweep behind square and clears the fine leg boundary by a distance!
17.4 N Rana to D Miller
1 Flatter and quicker on the off stump, punched off the backfoot to deep point for one.
17.3 N Rana to V Shankar
1 Good length on the leg stump, turned in the leg side off the backfoot for a single. Deep midwicket has to move to his left.
