Milestone
An all-round performance from Rajasthan Royals gets them back to the winning ways. They have made the league double over the MS Dhoni-led side and are now sitting on the top of the points table, pushing their counterparts down to the second spot. Join us tomorrow at the same time as today for the match between Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants. For now, it is me AkshayaKrishna Polya signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Akshay Bhide and scorer/analyst Paras Yadav! Goodnight and cheers!
Yashasvi Jaiswal: "I think I enjoyed both (on which POTM Jaiswal liked the most). Yeah, a bit I think. I was trying to hit the ball but I was also aware of the wind where it was heading. So I was aware of where to hit and also aware of the situation we were in. I think it's not only about now, I have been putting all the efforts with Zubin sir and Sangakkara sir. They have been good to me. I also learn from seniors like MS Dhoni sir and Virat sir. I was not at all thinking about the hundred. I just tried to score continuously and keep going. I knew that we need at least 200 to defend here. So always had in mind the target we needed to set and kept going without thinking of the milestone."
Player of the Match: Yashasvi Jaiswal
Sanju Samson (Rajasthan Royals Skipper): "Yeah absolutely winning this game is what all we wanted. Our dressing room wanted this and the crowd here as well. Happy with the first win here in Jaipur this season. You can't go by one dimension everywhere. You would like to chase at Chepauk, Chinnaswamy and Wankhede. But you want to bat first and put runs on the board on these surfaces. The wind around here and the track was helping the batters initially. It's just the norm, you know, you will smile if you end up winning and keep your head down if you end up on the other side. Happy to see Yashasvi, DDP and Dhruv to the way they are playing and it was because of them we won. The youngsters kept us in the game and kudos to the team management for what the players are doing now. You see Jaiswal at the RR academy during the off-season working hard in the nets."
Active Catch of the Match: Devdutt Padikkal
Most Fours Hit in the Match: Yashasvi Jaiswal
Most Valuable Asset of the Match: Yashasvi Jaiswal
Game Changer of the Match: Yashasvi Jaiswal
Electric Striker of the Match: Dhruv Jurel
11:25 PM IST: Time for the post-match presentation.
Adam Zampa (Rajasthan Royals): "We have been under the pump in the last couple of games. But happy with the effort tonight. The batters did well to post a good total on the board. I saw how Theekshana bowled. It was a bit shorter and quicker and tried to do the same. Just bowling into the pitch and allow the ball to skid a bit. Yashasvi and Dhruv played really well to get to this total. I have been playing cricket for a long time now. You have to be mentally prepared for each and every match whether it be CSK or any other team and just relax by the poolside."
MS Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings Skipper): "I think it was quite above the par score. The reason was the first six overs. We gave too many runs in the powerplay and the wicket was good. There were many edges that went to the boundary and that had a big impact on the score. Also, we didn’t get a good start with the bat.

You have to accept it. You don’t look at the scorecard. You look at where you bowled. I feel he bowled really well. The scorecard doesn’t actually reflect how well he bowled.

Yashasvi batted really well. It was important to go after the bowlers at the start. It was easy against our bowlers we had to analyze what the good length was. But Yashasvi batted well and Jurel also batted well in the end.

I think the fans will be chasing me throughout. It’s a very good venue.
My first hundred was at Vizag which gave me 10 more games but the 183 I made here gave me an extra year. It is very close to my heart and always feels good to get back here."
Earlier in the match, Sanju Samson of Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to bat first. The decision to bat proved right as their openers, especially Yashasvi Jaiswal, was on the attacking route straight from the first over bowled by Akash Singh.

Jaiswal smashed glorious strokes to all parts of Jaipur and continued his purple patch with another fifty. He made 77 off 43 balls, hitting 8 fours and 4 maximums. Jos Buttler at the other end was playing the supporting role and scored 27 off 21 balls, adding 86 runs for the first wicket. Buttler was the first one to depart as Ravindra Jadeja drew the first blood for Chennai Super Kings in the 9th over.

Then Sanju Samson (17 off 17) and Jaiswal stitched 39 runs for the second wicket but Tushar Deshpande’s double strike in the 14th over, turned the tides back towards CSK as RR lost both their set batters. Shimron Hetmyer got promoted up the order but failed to deliver yet again as Maheesh Theekshana sent him back to the hut.

But a brilliant finishing given by Dhruv Jurel and Devdutt Padikkal helped Rajasthan post 202/5 in their allotted 20 overs. While Jurel (34 off 15) was run-out with a MS Dhoni direct hit in the last over, Padikkal (27* off 13) was unbeaten taking the team’s total past 200.
Chasing the big target, CSK openers failed to give the team a good start despite batting for 6 overs. Devon Conway (8 off 16) was struggling throughout the powerplay and lost his wicket in the last ball of the field restrictions as CSK ended the powerplay with a scoreline of 42/1. But on the other end, Ruturaj Gaikwad played as he plays and scored 47 runs in 29 balls. Rajasthan spinners in Ravichandran Ashwin and Adam Zampa spun a web around the batting side and picked wickets at regular intervals to keep CSK on the back foot throughout the middle phase.

At one stage, CSK were at 73/4. Then Shivam Dube and Moeen Ali (23 off 12) rebuilt with a partnership of 51 for the 5th wicket but Zampa broke this stand in the 15th over. While Ashwin finished with a spell of 4-0-35-2, Zampa ended with three wickets giving away 22 runs in his three overs.

Dube continued to smash sixes and fours and completed his swashbuckling fifty but only to reduce the losing margin as Ravindra Jadeja (23* off 15) and Dube (52 off 33) added 46 runs for the 6th wicket before the latter holed out in the final ball of the innings bowled by Kuldip Yadav. CSK managed to take the score to 170 as RR got two points and climbed up to the first place in the points table.
11:10 PM IST | What a memorable win this for Rajasthan Royals in their 200th IPL appearance as they beat Chennai Super Kings by a margin of 32 runs at home! RR make the league double over CSK and this is the 6th win for Rajasthan Royals in the last 7 matches against CSK!

W A wicket on the final ball of the match. Rajasthan Royals complete a comprehensive win over the Chennai Super Kings. Yadav bowls it full outside off, Dube reaches out at it and hits it straight down the ground. He gets it off the toe end of the bat and holes out in the deep. Buttler stationed at long on takes a simple catch. The Royals win their 200th IPL match by 32 runs and go to the top of the table.
Jaiswal signals that he lost it in the lights! But did well to stop it.
