Milestone
That's it from Match 35 of the Indian Premier League where the defending champions thumped the five-time champions by 55 runs to go second in the points table. The tournament has reached its halfway point now as all teams have played seven games each and we are done with 35 out of 70 league games. The second half of the IPL starts tomorrow and it promises to be an exhilarating ride. Join us for Match 36 between RCB vs KKR from Bengaluru tomorrow and for all other fixtures around the globe in our network.

This is Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my co-commentators AkshayaKrishna Polya, and Ninaad Dixit alongside scorer/analyst Paras Yadav. Stay safe, happy, and cool. Goodnight and CHEERS!
Abhinav Manohar (Player of the Match): "Yes, I am lucky to be in this franchise. We get a lot of time in the nets and gives me the self confidence to succeed. I think I have been gifted to hit the ball long and now to play it like that is amazing. It is a dream come true. It was good to spend time out there as the team was struggling and I spent my time before going for the biggies. I am glad that I could contribute to this franchise who have been good to me. We work hard a lot."
Hardik Pandya (Gujarat Titans Captain): "That has always been the motto. The captaincy has taken call at situation rather than plan as couple of sixes can change your plan as well. Captaincy is something where I back my instincts and it has worked for me so far.

It become very easy as me and Ashish Nehra have the same mindset. 99% we back our similar calls. The batters like pace like David, Green and Surya but we have the kind of spinners which they find difficult to read as well so it felt like closing early as couple of games which we were winning, we lost and I didn't want to take this game far.

The amount of balls Abhinav hits everyday, the credit goes to his hard work and team management. He bats at least a couple of hours in the nets. He has rectified few things from the last season. We are very happy the way he is hitting and look for more from him."
Active Catch of the Match: Suryakumar Yadav
Longest Six Hit in the Match: Abhinav Manohar (87m)
Most Fours Hit in the Match: Shubman Gill
Most Valuable Asset of the Match: Noor Ahmad
Game Changer of the Match: Noor Ahmad
Electric Striker of the Match: David Miller

Rashid Khan is now the owner of the Purple Cap.
Rashid Khan (Gujarat Titans): "Well, it is going well for me. Need to be more consistent with my lines and lengths which I haven't been so far till this game. Happy with the wickets tonight. Still, work is to be done in terms of lines and lengths. Yeah, I was good in my first three overs. Keeping the batters quiet and bowling on correct spots, making it difficult for the batters.

Noor Ahmad is an excellent character. It's good to be playing with him and bowling alongside him. He gives so much time to the game. He practises repeatedly in the nets and you also see his hard work last year, bowling continuously in the nets. Even when I am in the gym he comes to me and takes me away to practise as he wants to be improving everytime he plays. He bowls to me at the gym. He has done well tonight and it's a great prospect for Gujarat Titans and also for Afghanistan."
Rohit Sharma (Mumbai Indians Captain): "That's really disappointing. We had pretty much control of the game till about 15 overs and then the last few overs went for way too many runs. Just about execution. We need to execute what's right on that pitch, who are the batsmen, that kind of a thing and we failed to do that which is why in the end they got way too many runs.

You gotta look at every team has different strength. We've got a very good batting lineup so we back ourselves to go out there and achieve that target. Today wasn't the day for us. We struggled from the start. We didn't get going. I can see there's lot of dew as well.  If we would have batted well then probably you never know. We came pretty close last game to chase down 215 but we back ourselves and get those runs whatever is there on the board. You need to create that partnership, you need to bat as long as possible. The last 7 overs we didn't have as many batters batting in the middle there."
11:20 PM IST: A comprehensive win for the Gujarat Titans as they defeat the five time champions Mumbai Indians by 55 runs. The defending champions outplayed their opponents in all the facets of the game and with this win they join the Chennai Super Kings at the top of the table with 5 wins in 7 games separated only by Net Run Rate.

Mumbai never got going in the chase if we are brutally honest. Skipper Rohit went early for 2 while Ishan Kishan struggled for his 13 off 21 balls. Cameron Green tried his bit with his 33 off 26 balls. Suryakumar Yadav showed his glimpses with his 23 off 12 balls. Some late fireworks from Nehal Wadhera helped as he scored 40 off 21 balls. Piyush Chawla chipped in with 18 off 12 balls. Arjun Tendulkar chipped in with 13 off 9 balls. They allowd MI to finish at 152/9 eventually losing by 55 runs.

All the Gujarat Titans bowlers bowled well and restricted Mumbai Indians. Rashid Khan was hard to get away as he got a couple of wickets for 27 runs in 4 overs. Noor Ahmad got 3 wickets for 37 runs in 4 overs. Mohit Sharma added two wickets to his tally as he got 3/38 in 3 overs. Hardik Pandya bowled two overs upfront and got the wicket of his opposite number Rohit Sharma.

Earlier in the game, Gujarat Titans lost Wriddhiman Saha early for 4. Shubman Gill looked good and top scored with 56 off 34 balls. Hardik Pandya and Vijay Shankar got starts and threw their wickets away. But it was David Miller's 46 off 22 balls alongside a breath-taking 42 off 21 balls that powered the Giants forward especially in the death overs. Thereafter, a gem of an innings from Iceman Rahul Tewatia who scored 20* off 5 balls that catapulted Gujarat Giants to a massive 207/6 in 20 overs.

All the Mumbai Indians bowlers went for runs as they looked ineffective and clueless at the death overs. A couple of wickets for Piyush Chawla as he finished with 2/34 in 4 overs. A wicket apiece for Arjun Tendulkar, Jason Behrendorff, Riley Meredith, and Kumar Kartikeya. Arjun bowled just two overs at the top and did not bowl thereafter. Cameron Green was clobbered for 39 runs in 2 overs. All the bowlers who bowled at the death went for runs and this is something they need to work on if they want to win games.

So, Gujarat Giants win by 55 runs to climb upto 2nd in the points table as they are behind CSK on Net Run Rate. Stick around for the presentations.
