Milestone
That's it from this game as another thrilling game comes to an end in IPL 2023. We will be back tomorrow in Chennai for Chennai Super Kings vs Sunrisers Hyderabad. It is another Southern Derby. Do join us for this game and for all other cricketing actions across the globe.

For now, this is Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Akshay Bhide and Ninaad Dixit alongside scorer/analyst Paras Yadav. Stay safe, happy, and cool. Goodnight and CHEERS!
Ishant Sharma (Player of the Match): "I was just waiting for my chance. So whenever I will get a chance, I just want to win a game for the team, that's all I was thinking.

Every single day the areas changes. It just depends on what kind of plans do you have about certain batters so we talk a lot about this in the bowling meetings. Its just a matter of time and you just want to execute those plans so that's what I was thinking about.

I think there is no lucky charm in the team. Its just the way we played. We want to win most of the games and every single game now from here and qualify and hopefully we can win the tournament."
David Warner (Delhi Capitals Captain): "Yes, finally. We scrapped our way there and good to get the win and going to Hyderabad now. Glad to get the win. The bowling unit was great proud of them. The batters started well and we slipped up before huffing and puffing to the win. We had a honest conversation about areas to improve and there was an honest feedback from the batting group. So, hope to work on the areas and we have to improve going forward in the coming games."
Active Catch of the Match: Mitchell Marsh
Longest Six Hit in the Match: Andre Russell (109 m)
Most Fours Hit in the Match: David Warner
Most Valuable Asset of the Match: David Warner
Game Changer of the Match: David Warner
Electric Striker of the Match: David Warner
12:35 PM: Time for the post-match presentation.
Ishant Sharma is the Player of the Match.
Sourav Ganguly (Director of Cricket, Delhi Capitals): "We are happy to get off the mark. I was sitting in the dugout and thinking like my first Test match run, 25 years ago. I think we were on the luckier side.

I think we've bowled well this season even the game before to Bangalore to restrict them to 160-170. I thought we did well. The game before in Bombay we defended 160 well. So the bowling has been good. These are good pitches, fast outfields so its hard on the bowlers. But the problem is the batting.

Nortje has been outstanding for us. Good to see Mukesh and Ishant turn up and do well with the ball. We have a lot of work to do. I know it is an inexperienced batting lineup. We haven't been playing well. Most of these guys have played a lot of T20 cricket. Its probably time to look and find a way to bat better.

You wake up everyday to win. Its a new day everyday and this format you back yourself every time you come out to play. We work hard in the nets with all the coaches, just not me and Ricky and try to get these guys back in form. Many of them. Whether it is Marsh or Prithvi or Manish. They've been around for a long period of time. They have played good cricket around the world for the country and their respective teams in T20 cricket and I think they also know that its time to put a better batting performance.

Looking forward to every game. I think this win will bring smile back on everyone's faces. We have a day off tomorrow, fly to Hyderabad and hopefully get to bat better. Hyderabad has always been a good batting wicket. Lots of runs scored on that and hopefully the batters will enjoy the ball coming on to the bat."
Nitish Rana (Kolkata Knight Riders Skipper): "I think we were 15-20 runs short. We knew the wicket was difficult to bat on. I take the responsibility for this loss as my wicket was crucial. I had to stay there in the middle and I fell at the wrong time. But the credit must go to the bowlers for the way they fought. The discussion was to take the game deep. They batted very well in the powerplay. As a team, we have to play well. The way we have bowled tonight, we need to repeat it in the upcoming games. With the way we have shown fight defending this low total, we are doing something good and that's a positive sign."
12:20 AM IST: We have had another last over finish in the IPL 2023. This one was a low scoring thriller. At the end of it all, it was the Delhi Capitals that held their nerves to eventually win the game by 4 wickets with 4 balls to spare. They are finally off the mark in this competition. They made heavy weather for it as KKR made a match out of nothing.

Chasing a paltry 128 for their first win in this competition, The Capitals lost Prithvi Shaw early for 13. Captain David Warner came out all guns blazing with his 57 off 41 balls that powered the chase. But he lost his partners at the other end. Manish Pandey played a useful knock of 21 off 23 balls. It was a struggle out there, but Axar Patel kept his cool and remained unbeaten on 19* off 22 balls. Lalit Yadav was with him as they finally got to the target in 19.2 overs.

The spinners stole the show for the Knight Riders. A couple of wickets apiece for Varun Chakravarthy, Anukul Roy and Nitish Rana. The bowlers made a fight of it. KKR missed some crucial chances in the field at the wrong time and ended up on the losing side after their batting failed earlier today.

Earlier in the game, KKR never really got going and kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. Jason Roy stood tall amidst the ruins as he top scored with 43 off 39 balls. Mandeep Singh got into double figures as he scored 12. Lusty blows towards the end from Andre Russell took KKR past the 120-run mark as they ended with 127 in 20 overs. Russell hit three big sixes in the final over and was unbeaten on 38* off 31 balls as he fought out there like a warrior.

All the Delhi Capitals bowlers bowled well as a collective unit. A couple of wickets apiece for Ishant Sharma and Anrich Nortje the two pacers. The two spinners Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav picked up a couple of wickets apiece as they were miserly with the ball. Mukesh Kumar picked up a wicket as well although he went for runs in the end. Mitchell Marsh had an off day with the ball and failed with the bat.

So, the Capitals win this game by 4 wickets with 4 balls to spare to finally win their first game in 6 outings. KKR have now lost 4 out of their first 6 games and have to go back to the drawing board from here. Stick around for the presentation ceremony that comes our way soon.
19.2 K Khejroliya to A Patel
2 Into the gap, the batters complete two runs and the Delhi Capitals win their first game of IPL 2023. All smiles in the Capitals' camp as they get across the line with four wickets in hand. Khejroliya attempts a yorker but ends up bowling a full toss and Patel hits it aerially in the gap between long on and deep mid wicket and has enough time to come back for the second.
Big no ball from Kulwant Khejroliya. Free hit to follow and hopefully that should be the end of the match.
19.2 K Khejroliya to A Patel
2nb Full and tailing in on the pads, Patel flicks it in the leg side and hurries back for the second. Ohhh Dear!!! Khejroliya has overstepped here. No ball signaled by the umpire and free hit to follow. This should be the game for the Capitals here.
Another umpire's review here. The batter has made his ground and NOT OUT is the call on the screen.
19.1 K Khejroliya to A Patel
2 Khejroliya bowls a perfect yorker on the pads and Patel looks to dig it out but ends up getting an inside edge towards short fine leg. Narine on the edge of the circle misfields it. Axar calls for two straightaway and scampers back. Narine throws at the striker's end and Das collects it and whips the bails but Axar dives full-length to get in.
