RCB manage to keep all of us on the edge of our seat every time they step onto the field. It doesn't matter whether the opposition is halfway back in the hut earlier or not, it always goes down the wire when another side is RCB. At the end of all, RCB have held their nerve to eke out two points but don't take anything away from Jitesh Sharma. Join us in the second game of the doubleheader between DC and KKR at Delhi which is delayed due to bad weather at the moment.

For now, this is me Arijit Kundu signing off on behalf of my co-commentators AkshayaKrishna Polya and Ninaad Dixit, who, alongside our scorer/analyst Paras Yadav brought you all the live-action from this enthralling contest. Let's meet in the next game. Until then it's cheers!
Mohammed Siraj (Player of the Match): "I missed my length on the first ball and bowled a bit short. I got some swing so thought of pitching it a bit up. If I pick a wicket in the powerplay then I will set the tone for the future matches as the opposition team gets under pressure.

The lockdown was most important for me because my performances went down before that. I thought it as my last year and gave my best in the lockdown. I worked hard in the gym and focused on my bowling which made me confident in the next IPL.

I have recently played one-day internationals so feeling myself in a good rhythm. The ball is leaving the wrists well. My confidence is very high.

I am an excellent fielder sometimes I do misfield.

I want to improve in every facet of the game because I don't want to lose my place in the team for not being able to do this or that so I want to improve in every facet of the game."
Mohammed Siraj is the player of the match and also gets the Purple Cap.
Virat Kohli (Royal Challengers Bangalore Captain): "Yeah, exactly that's what I said earlier. This result doesn't make us an invincible team and the results before this game doesn't make us a bad team. The table doesn't define your mood. It's towards games 12-13 that decides where we are.

We assessed the conditions really well. The conditions changed drastically in the first half. I think Faf batted outstandingly in the first innings. The way he batted helped us add 20-30 extra runs to the total. We had to spend some extra time since we weren't batting deep.

I felt the wicket underneath was rough. As soon as the 7-8 over was done, the ball was going bashed through the square, and the ball was getting scuffed up. I think there was not enough water there as the pitch stays shiny if it is done well. There were hardly any sixes hit off the back foot against the spinners. Even off the seamers, the ball wasn't going well.

Had we stayed in we had a chance to give a crack towards 190 or 200. At the end, it was a good job to get 175. I told the bowlers to keep your chest high, keep your heads high and tell that you can take the wickets here.  Cannot afford to take the game deep when they are 6-7 wickets down. Most of the teams bat deep but we had options for the ball. 25 runs give you good enough margins of boost to your run rate.

At the halfway stage of the game, the thought was to set the intensity to the opposition and you kinda break the game open when you take four wickets in the powerplay as well. I think you cannot break the game one end as well, We just need to be present out there and take the game."

7:15 PM IST | Time for the post-match presentations.
Wanindu Hasaranga (Royal Challengers Bangalore): "Yeah, there was a little bit of grip for the spinners and I tried to bowl wicket-to-wicket keeping it tighter. Also tried to bowl my primary wicket-taking (Googly) deliveries. I didn't think I could manage a direct hit (Sam Curran run-out) from there and get a run-out. It was unbelievable. Happy with the win, a great atmosphere here at RCB and I am enjoying the time."
Sam Curran (Punjab Kings Captain): "I thought we played really well as a group. The way Faf and Virat played was really good as well, credit to them. But at the same time I felt they got away from us too well. In the end we didn't probably bat well enough.

They bowled well and we lost wickets early with some run outs as well. The conditions were quite strange as well. We thought it was gonna rain at one stage. Lots to learn from.

Its a really good wicket with good sized boundaries. Any wicket which you play on must be good wicket. Fair contest with bat and ball. I still think the wicket was really good today. We did a lot of things right today but just a couple of things with the bat we probably would look back on and regroup.

The games come thick and fast. We go back to Mumbai on Saturday, so I guess its not panic. Its just about learning from it and I am sure Mumbai will be a really good wicket for our batters as well. Credit to RCB but we are really excited already for Saturday."
7:02 PM IST | After two losses in their previous three games, Royal Challengers Bangalore bounces back away from their home. An excellent three-dimensional show from the visitors in Mohali and RCB buckets two crucial points. Without an iota of doubt, it should be a treat for all the RCB fans as the ship is right in its path under captain Virat Kohli.

After being sent to bat first, Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli, the usual openers set a perfect platform for big a commendable total. They started off with some crisp stroke play mixed with excellent running between the wickets. The duo stuck around for a long time and notched up 137 runs for the opening wicket. This was also the highest partnership in Mohali. In addition, this was the second time a century-plus stand was witnessed in this edition of IPL, and guess what it was RCB again.

The first breakthrough came in the first ball of the 17th over when skipper Sam Curran handed the ball to Harpreet Brar. The left-arm spinner enforced two wickets in two balls removing Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell. Faf played some outrageous shots but was taken aback by the wittiness of Nathan Ellis. With some late contributions from the middle order, RCB could fetch 174 runs on the board for the loss of four wickets. Faf du Plessis (84) and Virat Kohli (59) were the highest run-getters while Brar emerged with two wickets.

Arriving for the chase, Punjab Kings were out on the back foot by the RCB bowlers. Mohammed Siraj and Wayne Parnell operated from both ends enforcing a flurry of wickets in the Dhawan-less Punjab side. Atharva Taide failed to gleam for the second time in the competition while Matt Short returned back with just eight runs.

Liam Livingstone was a no-show on his first exposure in the 16th edition of IPL. The middle order collapsed and it was just Prabhsimran Singh (46) who looked strong from the top five. It felt as if he was filling the big shoes of usual skipper Shikhar Dhawan and was doing a fabulous job.

Whenever the Punjab-based franchise tried to stitch partnerships, RCB bowlers returned with a scalp. Mohammed Siraj was spitting venom today and was well assisted by Wayne Parnell and Harshal Patel. Although Jitesh Sharma (41off 27) was the lone assaulter for PBKS, he failed to steer his side past the finishing line. Virat Kohli dropped his catch while the gloveman was on 38 but it didn't matter much as Siraj took the onus of all-out folding on his own shoulders. Wanindu Hasaranga was sensational with the ball and on the field as well. He bagged two wickets and forced a run-out on Harpreet Singh Bhatia.

One of the big positives for RCB was the number of successful reviews they had. Including two spot-on reviews for a wide in the first innings, they've taken four successful reviews. Mohammed Siraj was the star with four wickets under his name. In the end, Punjab Kings could gather just 150 runs on the board, which meant a 24 runs victory for RCB.
18.2 H Patel to J Sharma
W WICKETTT!!!! And they manage to win. RCB do well in the end to come on top despite Jitesh Sharma heroics. The Red Devils win by 24 runs and take the two points from this game. Slower delivery wide outside off. Jitesh sits down on one knee and looks for an almighty smash with all his power. But is too wide to play the shot and pays the price for the wrong shot selection under pressure. Only manages to get the toe end of the bat and it loops towards the backward point, where Shahbaz Ahmed dives forward and takes it safely, with some chuckles around. Nevertheless, it was a classic RCB finish and a classic RCB game!!!!
18.1 H Patel to J Sharma
0 Full and straight on the off and middle. Jitesh drills a drive hard back at the bowler but hits the stumps at the non-striker's end. It has saved a few runs for the visitors.
18.1 H Patel to J Sharma
WD WIDE! Over the wicket. Back of a length wide outside off. Jitesh swings and misses as it was way outside his reach. Wide signaled.
