That is it for Super Sunday! Another double-header night ends with a thrilling finish. Rajasthan Royals defeat Gujarat Titans for the first time in IPL and take two points with them. For now, this is me AkshayaKrishna Polya signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Arijit Kundu and Ninaad Dixit, who alongside our scorer/analyst Paras Yadav brought you all the live-action of this mouth-watering fixture. We will join for matches around the world. Until then, it's cheers!
Shimron Hetmyer (Player of the Match): "I don't know actually. Did really wanted to win against these guys as they beat us three times the last year. Wanted to get the revenge. I practice these kinds of situations actually when a couple of wickets go down and you had to get over 100 runs from 8 overs actually.

I was actually very happy, to be honest. He [on Noor Ahmad bowling the last over] bowled very well tonight. I was thinking if I could get a double in the first ball and then take it through; that was what I was thinking actually. Cheers! Thanks!!"

Player of the Match: Shimron Hetmyer
Sanju Samson (Rajasthan Royals Captain): "Yeah absolutely, you expect some kind of matches like this when you play a quality opponent. Very happy to compete and be on the winning side as well. Off course, it was very important to rotate the bowlers. They were going at the spinners and at times they were playing some quality cricketing shots and we need to respect that. At the same time, we need to understand the quality we have set for ourselves. It was good to restrict them to 177.

Yeah, absolutely, we needed to respect them the way they bowled at the start. But we knew that we couId play the shots later on. I think the way Zampa came in it was a great thing. We knew that Zampa was a good matchup against David Miller. We had already got him.

Absolutely, I don't think he (Hetmyer) likes easy situations. He likes these kinda difficult situations..."

Devdutt Padikkal (Rajasthan Royals): "Yeah it gets a bit tense when the match goes down to the wire. I felt everyone had the belief that we had batsmen who could finish it off. We had to try and keep the scoreboard ticking. We had to make sure that we get the odd boundaries.

It was moving quite a bit in the first three to four overs. If the ball was in our areas we had to go for it. Yeah, it's unbelievable how consistent he [Shimron Hetmyer] is. How he comes back and delivers again and again in these situations. Such a great talent to have him in the side. Yeah, he will be the one to lead the party tonight hahaha."
Hardik Pandya (Gujarat Titans Captain): "The game is never till its over, that was the message to the boys and I guess this was another lesson for us.

Noor is someone who is difficult to pick as well. I won't be harsh on him. He got a good breakthrough which we wanted but the other bowlers did not execute, that's a fact.

Body is good. Everything is good don't worry. [On sucking the oxygen]

It is a very good tournament, all these losses at the end of the tournament kind of reminds you if you are not on the other side. Still a lot of matches left, we still need to play good cricket even if we had won today.

I felt short. Post I got out, I think we lacked a little. Couple of overs they bowled well as well but I assume we should have gone a little harder and be in the front and kinda get to a good total which I think we did cover it well. But I think watching from outside, I felt we were 10 runs short."
Sanju Samson won the toss earlier in the match and decided to bowl first. GT were off to a bad start as they lost Wriddhiman Saha very early in the piece. He was out caught and bowled, which had four fielders converging on it and ending up in a comedy of errors. Apart from this, GT had a good day with the bat, but none of the batters could play a huge innings.

While Shubman Gill played a gritty knock up at the top order, David Miller gave the finishing touches in the death overs alongside Abhinav Manohar as GT posted 177/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Gill’s partnership with Hardik Pandya for the 3rd wicket of 59 runs was the highest of the innings, while 45-run stand between Miller and Manohar gave the final polish to the GT innings.

RR used only five bowlers with Sandeep Sharma being the successful one picking two wickets. Trent Boult was expensive but picked a wicket in the first over, while spinners Adam Zampa and Yuzvendra Chahal picked a wicket each with the third spinner Ravichandran Ashwin going wicketless.

Chasing a competitive target of 178, RR lost both of their stylish openers without much addition to the scoreboard. Devdutt Padikkal and Sanju Samson reconstructed the innings with a 43-run stand for the third wicket, but Rashid Khan pushed RR on the back foot by dismissing the struggling Padikkal and Riyan Parag in his consecutive overs.

It was actually Samson and Shimron Hetmyer who played without fear and tonked boundaries at a brisk rate, adding 59 runs for the 5th wicket. In the process, the RR skipper completed a swashbuckling fifty and completed 3000 runs for RR in IPL.

GT's impact player Noor Ahmed sent Samson back to the pavilion and made the match interesting. But Dhruv Jurel and Hetmyer didn't allow a GT comeback and punished the bowlers to smack an enthralling partnership of 47 runs for the 6th wicket which almost seal the deal for the visitors.

With 23 runs needed off the two overs, Shami bowled the penultimate over. While Jurel was out after smashing Shami for a six, Ashwin came and played just three balls in which he scored a four and a six before getting deceived in the third ball getting out caught at backward point.

Hetmyer made sure they didn't lose from here and completed his scintillating fifty just a ball before he finished the match in style smoking a biggie over mid-wicket!

GT's bowlers gave their hearts out with Shami taking three wickets, and Rashid bagging two wickets. But both these went for runs when the side needed the most.
11:09 PM IST | Finally, in the fourth try, Rajasthan Royals eke out a win against Gujarat Titans as they win a contest that went up and down like waves! IPL is truly alive with matches like these! And at the end of all, it is RR who win by 3 wickets and take home the two points.
This is RR's first ever victory against the Titans in 4th attempt.
19.2 N Ahmad to S Hetmyer
6 SIXXX!!!!! Hetmyer finishes it off in style. A tad short and spinning in but still outside off. Hetmyer rocks back and pulls it over deep mid-wicket for a match-winning biggie. What a game we have had with a lot of twists and turns! RR win by 3 wickets!
